Alleged Hunter Biden Email From Giuliani Appears Forged [or not]
Medium.com ^ | 10/14/2020 | Brian & Eddie Krassenstein

What caught my eye immediately was the tremendous clarity of the text, when compared to the “VP” gmail icon in the upper right-hand corner. Something appeared to be off, and upon further examination, it was. Look what happens when you zoom into the PDF file (see image below). The text in the file remains crystal clear, yet the gmail icon for “VP” gets extremely pixelated. Even in the un-zoomed version, the icon is blatantly pixelated.

This is the hallmark of email alterations. There is no reason that the gmail icon should be of a different resolution than the text on the same document, unless of course the icon or the text were photoshopped in.

Someone with more computer skills than me can take a look at this, but I think these authors are making a very simple mistake.

When you save something as a PDF, adobe compresses the information. For fonts it does not recognize, it saves a picture of the characters (which uses a lot of space and makes them hard to scale up and down). For fonts it recognizes, it merely saves the name of the font and expects the Adobe reader to find the font details. For icons and drawings, Adobe has to save the picture as best it can.

As a result, when you save an email as a PDF, almost all of the text will be crystal clear no matter how much you zoom in. But icons will look very pixellated when you zoom in a lot.

I was pretty sure that's the mistake these authors are making (i.e. they didn't PDF their test emails before viewing) and so I printed one of my emails as an Adobe PDF and I got the opposite of their results: clear text and pixellated icons.

Maybe they should test Barry’s fake birth certificate to test their theory??

Here is a story trying to debunk it, but it does a very poor job: https://www.businessinsider.com/new-york-post-may-have-identified-hunter-biden-source-2020-10

It uses innuendo mostly.

It’s the Krassensteins

Masters of disinfo

The hard drive Giuliani has is the backup to the computer seized by the FBI LAST DEC 2019.

The FBI should release what they have to independent analysis

Also the photos, videos, and 30-40,000 other emails

There will be metadata attached to the mail proving it’s origin. This leftist rag is playing with fire here.

If the entire email is a “picture”, it will all get blurry. However, if the email is email text with a letterhead icon “picture”, the icon will get blurry and the text will remain sharp.

I’ve seen this phenomenon for decades. It’s why, when using a company logo that I wat to remain sharp at all zoom levels, I try to get a high resolution version.

Short answer: This proves only one thing: The text is text and the icon is an image. And this is to be expected.

If the email had been typed on an IBM Selectric back around 1970 they might have something. They say the email is fake, but I think it’s accurate.

You are correct. Any element that is not a font will get pixelated when scaled up.
They are trying to circle the wagons like the blogosphere did with the B$ CBS letter about Bush, and tearing apart of the fake obama birth certificate.

Yeah - this doesn’t indicate a forgery at all.

A simple test would be to generate an email using outlook and save it as a PDF and I bet you get the same thing.

Now - I’m open minded enough to allow these could be faked (though I doubt it) but this isn’t it.

Also note that Medium won’t pull down this post like it did with other “misinformation” posts

Also have to wonder if Twitter will ban this medium link...

Biden already admitted to the real crime. All we are doing now is arguing over how much money was involved

"...The FBI should release what they have to independent analysis..."

And not to a company like Crowdstrike which the FBI released "something" to for "independent analysis" before...

The difference is due to whether the material was stored as pixels or as vectors, as a vectorized representation. PDF uses "vector fonts," meaning it is convertible to native pixels at whatever resolution it is zoomed to. Once vector-represented image content is converted to pixels — as with a screen shot — the vector metadata is lost, and the pixels are frozen at whatever resolution the conversion was done at.

From what I understand, the "VP" icon is an icon or image file. Zooming in on a PDF will cause it to pixelate and distort as would any image depending on its original resolution/DPI.

However, FONTS in typed text could be subject to adobe's OCR (optical character recognition) technology and could remain clear even on zoom. As you zoomed in, if adobe recognizes the font, adobe will scale up the font so that the text remains readable. It's a "benefit" of the software especially for guys with poor eyesight like me.

I'd have to see the actual PDF to be sure. I'd advise the author to check his settings and see if he has any boxes checked regarding OCR or some sort of text recognition.

Here is a link that might point the author in the right direction.

Matches your fonts.

Rest easy knowing Acrobat can recognize text and its formatting. Your new PDF will match your original printout thanks to automatic custom font generation.

So why is it they have not denied the authenticity of the emails then?

an image is pixelated because it’s a raster file and the resolution isn’t high enough to be zoomed in on.

Text is not pixelated because the software renders the font for you.

I guess all those pictures of Joe’s darling little boy are faked too.
They got a Biden Hunter body double! Those nasty Republicans!

God bless Rudy for getting this out there. Obviously our CORRUPT TO THE BONE F.B.I. was prepared to say absolutely nothing about this to anyone until the end of time.

If you "Print to PDF" an email, it will use TEXT for text and the document remains searchable by word and scalable in size. If you took a picture of the email, then the text would be a graphic and you could not search it and it would become pixilated when blown up.

Anyway, no concern here.

You bet.

You can fake metadata, but it is incredibly difficult.
