Any time L.E. have something under investigation they will typically want to keep the details under wraps.
Should be pretty easy to document his story.
He knows which office of the FBI he called. Follow the chain of evidence.
There should be a 302 detailing the custody of the computer written by the agent who picked up the laptop. There should also be a property tag that shows a laptop was turned in.
I don’t know what the FBI protocol is, but in our department, a receipt was given to the person who turned the property in.
We know he contacted Senator Lee’s office, so that portion of the story is true.
Regardless, there is a paper trail to substantiate the basis of the allegations.
Has the FBI SAC been asked to corroborate the story?
Except that the FBI has no intention of investigating anything here.
Standard procedure.
But it is not standard procedure to threaten you.
“Nothing ever happens to people who don’t talk” is a direct threat.
