Right up there with the former publicist of Marla Maples, Trump’s estranged wife at the time, who stole umpty dozen shoes and after being found guilty sued to get the stolen shoes back from the evidence locker.
If a lawyer was involved I bet he never said “return” or “Hunter Biden’s computer”. Instead he likely said “turn over” and “the computer in question” to avoid admitting that it was Humper’s computer.

I believe the story goes that after he gave the original over to the FBI (he had made other forensic copies) and nothing happened, the impeachment process started. When he saw that Trump was being impeached over this stuff—and the FBI was not acting—he reached out to the Guliani team.
It was his drive at this point. He was free to do with it whatever he wanted.
He “could” have sold it to the highest bidder. Which would have gotten him some good money—but also a .22 magnum to the back of the head...in a “robbery” gone wrong.
