I’m not Catholic, and I agree with this. The bishops are very influential.

The worst thing is we lose. The next worst thing is we win and the bishops stay on the sidelines. It’s terrible to contemplate what that will do to their credibility and the image of the Church. They must speak out because it is the truth!

they are

but in all honesty

american catholics simply do not care what their bishops, cardinals, and popes say IF THEY DISAGREE WITH IT

we have all met plenty of this stripe, we have them in our families, as relatives

we know they are going to do what they are going to do

and we know this by their continued support of these things

most noticeably homosexual perversion

they either have ‘friends’ or sons or daughters doing this and can’t and won’t reject it, and in fact some champion it

and so itmgoes with abortion as well

All it would take is for one abortion promoting politician to be excommunicated. That would end the confusion.

Scripture tells us there are four sins that cry out to God for vengeance: murder (Gen 4:10), sodomy (Gen 17:20-21), .....
/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\
By this measure, the Catholic Church has no authority to speak. None at all.
Unpunished homosexuality and sexual abuse of children is present in so many areas of the entire Catholic system. And the coverups continue.
To paraphrase Billy Graham - If a holy God does not judge the Catholic Church, He might consider Adolph Hitler for a Nobel peace Prize. (considering Yassar Arafat got one, ..... I wonder why He hasn’t judged them (Nobel committee) also. But God alone is God, and I am not)

Yeah, I seriously doubt it. Abortion is here to stay like it or not.

The most we can hope for is the Supreme’s overturn RvW and properly rule it’s a states decision.

then you’ll see 30 or 40 states ban abortion and the rest will allow it.

Don't expect help from the U.S. Bishops, FRiend. The USCCB is supporting the "Catholic Campaign for Human Development," which funds and otherwise supports pro-abortion and pro LGBT groups. You can check it out on the Complicit Clergy (complicitclergy.com) webite.

I am Catholic, and I'll say "not like they used to be".

Decades of dithering and equivocating on serious moral issues, combined with the shameful cover-ups on behalf of pedophiles, have seriously tarnished them, and diminished their influence. Obama essentially declared war on the Church with his birth control mandate and they didn't raise a peep about it.

The local Catholic bishop in my area is telling Catholics that climate change is the ONLY issue that matters in this election. He does not care about abortion. He is as bad as the Pope.

1) If this were true, then why haven’t the Bishops long ago called for the ending of taking unborn lives? Blood is on their hands for their inaction.

2) The Bishops over-estimate their influence on today’s society. They could make any declaration they wish, and 75% of the population would say “Bishop who?”

Aren’t 80% of abortions of blacks?

How many blacks are Catholic?

My parish in the City of Laurel, MD is majority black and the heretical Archbishop of Washington is black as well.

american catholics simply do not care what their bishops, cardinals, and popes say IF THEY DISAGREE WITH IT

Demographic Reality:

65% Christians (in general)
20% Catholics (in particular)
14.5% Hispanic
13% Black
4.5% Hispanic

It would be catastrophic if the bottom three shifted against the Democrats. How about the top two? We don't need 100%. If 10% of Catholics listen to their bishops lay out the overarching issues and comply, it's over.

Both my priest and my archbishop make it very clear that the primary issue for Catholics is life from conception to natural death. I’m blessed.

One of the main reasons, I never became a Catholic is they let this evil continue unabated and NEVER come out strongly against it.

Most of the abortion loving Democrats in Congress call themselves Catholics. The irony is too strong for me to endure.

“american catholics simply do not care what their bishops, cardinals, and popes say IF THEY DISAGREE WITH IT”

Disclaimer: I was raised Catholic. Baptist, now.

I can recall in the mid sixties the younger priests already telling the congregations they could in good conscience not follow dictates of the law and civil society if they thought they were not correct.

And guess what? The congregants took them at their word! And those that stayed in the Catholic church then raised their own children under very relaxed norms.

Poop, it seems, actually does roll downhill.

The Catholics are not the only party guilty of this: They are simply the largest denomination and the most vocal.

Though shameful, it’s an accurate assessment. :(
