LONDON — Covid-19 is likely to become as "endemic" as the annual flu virus, according to the U.K.'s chief scientific advisor.
Some potential vaccines are in late-stage clinical trials, but Patrick Vallance said none is likely to eradicate the virus.

The point is that the government will not permit us a return to “normal” because they will maintain the virus will never be brought under control until there is a perfect 100% effective vaccine.
Ergo, the emergency measures must remain in place — forever.
But since the virus is in no way the Black Death, the emergency measures amount to useless tyranny, pure and simple.
A coronavirus is the cold virus, and is already endemic. The ordinary “consumer” tests apparently cannot distinguish between this particular coronavirus and the others, all of which mutate constantly, so who knows what these “statistics” mean, since the common cold is circulating all the time.
It’s an upper respiratory virus. As with all of them, it only becomes dangerous if it gets into the lower respiratory system. This particular variety may have more of a tendency to do that, so just focus on resistance - even taking over the counter flu medications that prevent congestion and fever - and early treatment or prophylactics, such as HCQ or serum treatments.
But I guess that wouldn’t be so useful to the government in shutting down and killing private life and turning us into a Chinese worker ant hive.
We’ll just have to shut down forever then /s

Then the best you can do is wash your hands often and get on with life.
Locking people up for the crime of being able to catch a virus is unjust and solves nothing.Except perhaps for politicians who need to demonstrate that they are “doing something”.
Given the coronavirus has the “spike protein” that allows the virus to stealthily enter a cell, I think a vaccine could be targeted to recognize this protein.
Aside, the mere fact that at no moment in time will everyone on the planet be immunized, I suspect this virus is here to stay.
But the deaths aren’t occurring like they were in the spring, so now the talking point is “cases”

Once China left the Wuhan airport open and lied about human-to-human transmission, this was inevitable.
The Swedish response looks more rational every day: try to protect the vulnerable, and let everyone else get on with their lives.
BTW, the Dems will announce the same as soon as the election is over.
