Dear Texas Elections Officials:
My office is receiving reports that certain poll watchers, election clerks, and other individuals administering elections are being barred from executing their duties on account of not wearing a mask or face-covering. This is wrong.
This letter serves as a reminder that on July 2, 2020, Governor Abbott issued Executive Order No. GA-29 relating to the use of face coverings during the COVID-19 disaster. See attached. The Order states plainly that the statewide "face-covering requirement does not apply to ... any person who is voting, assisting a voter, serving as a poll watcher, or actively administering an election." See the attached Order at page 2, paragraph 8.
Political subdivisions may not contravene the Governor's Order. Doing so is unlawful.
Sincerely,
Ken Paxton
Attorney General of Texas
As 'deadly' as Covid-19 is poll workers and voters complained about having to wear masks.
Now you don't have to wear a mask if you vote or you're a poll worker.
This is in NO WAY a SUPER SPREADER event; unlike the alleged super spreader event at the White House.
*COVID-19 knows how important voting is so no one will be infected while voting and not wearing a mask.
I was let go by a super PROGGY HARRIS COUNTY BUREAUCRAT & their henchmen with names like:
Beth Stevens
Pronouns: she/her/hers
Senior Advisor Voting Rights and Access
Office of Christopher G. Hollins, County Clerk
Harris County, Texas
AND
Rachelle Obakozuwa
Manager of Voting Centers and Recruitment
for not wearing a mask at the voting location. I had been wearing a mask but once the election judge & Rep. AJ let me know that we were not required & indeed should anyone insist that they could be fined $1000.00. I decided not to deprive myself of oxygen & get on with being a free citizen.
Don’t mess with Texas ping.
This is interesting. I voted on Sat in Round Rock Texas and they said you had to wear a mask. I had one so I wore it.
With all the stupid, it’s actually easier to just assume it’s needed at this point and save yourself the hassle (I’m also in Central TX).
Or ... wear it just long enough to get what you want done, then take it off and watch all the idiots piss themselves. Smile, and walk on by. I’m actually getting a kick, seeing who in a given crowd can think for themselves, and which are hopelessly lost.
Thanks for linking to the actual letter on the state’s website. Will be useful.
