Family restaurant fined $10K for violating coronavirus restrictions found not guilty [ Pennsylvania ]

Pennsylvania restaurant owners who were fined roughly $10,000 for opening their doors in defiance of coronavirus restrictions have been deemed not guilty.

A judge in Lebanon County, Pennsylvania, found Taste of Sicily not guilty in its fight against the Democratic Gov. Tom Wolf’s coronavirus restrictions, according to Local 21 News Harrisburg.

“The crux of the legal argument is that orders that have been issued by the Governor and The Department of Health are legally unenforceable. Judge Garvey agreed with that argument,” the restaurant’s lawyer Eric Winter said.

The restaurant, co-owned by siblings Michael Mangano and Christine Wartluft, opened in May in defiance of coronavirus restrictions.

“We were absolutely ecstatic,” Mangano said about the ruling. “You know a lot of people said a lot of different things about Taste of Sicily. We were selfish. All we cared about was business and money and it’s like we need to make a living."

...

Mangano added that other restaurants should adopt the same tactics if they face fines over coronavirus restrictions.

“When you get these fines from these agents do not pay them,” Mangano said. “Plead not guilty, and take them to court. As you can see we won because they had no legal right to fine us for those mandates and guidelines the governor and Levine implemented. You have to stick together and go to court.”

The restaurant's lawyers say they will not be required to pay any fines.

PA should pay for their lawyer's fees, too.

Actually, the governor should pay for it. And prove it was from personal funds and not public.

"A judge in Lebanon County, Pennsylvania, found Taste of Sicily not guilty..."

Did the judge wake up with a horse head in his bed?
