Exactly. That seventh guy may have been allowed to escape for just that reason — to warn his pals not to tamper with Americans.
I would have preferred, "They were all dead after several minutes of knowing exactly what was happening."
The one kidnapper not killed may have just been lucky enough to be away, when they strike came, going to the store, or something.
The last few moments of their lives must have been confusing. I wonder what the last thing was to go through the kidnappers heads.
