It is kinda puzzling is it not? I am not sure how Georgia is doing things, but they'd do well to follow Texas' lead on this in the future.
When I went in to vote, they scanned my drivers license and had me validate the information. Based on that data, a laser printer printed up my paper ballot, which I took to fill out. Once done, the ballot is scanned and deposited in a box. All that was needed by the poll workers was toner and paper. You wouldn't run into situations like I heard of elsewhere where they ran out of ballots at a particular location.
The actual reporting of the numbers takes seconds, as they are counted as they are scanned. If there is any question as to the tallies, all of the ballots are right there and can either be hand-counted to validate the counts, or run through the machine again after it had been reset.
I really think Texas is doing it right. Wish more places cared enough to do the same.
“It is kinda puzzling is it not?”
No it is not puzzling. They do this on purpose so they know how many votes to make up for the steal.
Very similar process when I voted in PA. I signed the book (no ID shown) and was handed a blank sheet. Went into the booth, fed it into the machine and made my votes via a touchpad device. Hit submit, the paper printed back out with my votes shown. I verified they were right. From there I took it myself to the tabulation machine, fed it in and watched until the machine said it was confirmed.
However even within PA the process is nonstandard. What I experienced worked very well though (acknowledging an ID should be required).
Agreed. My comment about puzzlement was supposed to be a bit of sarcasm.
