AT&T Inc.'s WarnerMedia subsidiary is preparing a restructuring aimed at cutting costs by as much as 20%, resulting thousands of employees losing their jobs, according to a report in The Wall Street Journal.

Citing people familiar with the matter, the report said the restructuring, which is expected to begin in the coming weeks, comes as earnings from movie tickets, cable subscriptions and TV ads have taken a hit from the COVID-19 pandemic.

The layoffs will affect AT&T's Warner Bros. studios, as well as TV channels such as HBO, TBS and TNT, the report said. The layoffs are in addition to the more than 500 jobs WarnerMedia eliminated at Warner Bros. in August.

The post election bloodbath. The people who work the crooked media are the first to go. They probably didn’t expect it after they worked so hard to get Biden elected.

Many people are homebound due to the COVID scandemic and these companies are still hemorrhaging viewers. People like me cut the cord specifically as retribution. I don’t think I’m alone. You told me you were supporting Antifa-BLM and you don’t want me. Great. Bye.

AT&T/TimeWarner stopped using “regular” global comics shop distribution at the start of the Wu-Flu. They then started exclusive distribution from two or three large comic shops, which is crazy. They’ve been axing animated shows too. Do they plan to shutter their entertainment wing down and sell the assets? Because that’s what it looks like from the outside.

God’s judgement on the media is beginning.

Amen
And Lord, we pray that the enemy media of the Republic, of Truth, and of Your Word will be crushed. And Lord, may the purveyors of junk science also meet their demise.

I can see them licensing their properties. Secures a money stream with far less overhead. Look at comics: monthly sales hovering around 30,000 copies for most titles. Let someone else create and publish, collect the royalties. They only want them now for movies and tv shows.

May they learn from what they sowed. May they learn, wisely. Amen.

I’m glad I got out of the interesting but low paying world of TV production a long time ago.

The technical part I still miss.

I still am able to apply a lot I learned elsewhere.

Jobs going to India, no doubt. H1Bs spared from the lay-offs as well.

I wonder what’s happening to the small production companies who depend on the big studios.
