If the grandparents took the grandchild to the range, and taught the child about the joy and responsibility of firearms ownership, something tells me that STILL wouldn't make the parents happy.

When my parents watch my kids my dad has his carry gun on him holstered. This woman is a snowflake.

I would withhold judgment. Some children, even older children, are not mature. The parents are in the best position to decide on that.

Grandparents should give the kid a Marlin model 60 for Christmas.

And largely, the internet audience was on her side.

Pro Tip: Never get and take advice from an 'internet audience'.

Its a tool

When you explain what its for, that it needs proper respect, and that like other tools adults own, they are not playthings for children to use, they are off limits normally like many other things in grandpa and grandma’s house,

Perhaps she should teach her kids about respecting other peoples house, and that they dont just go everywhere and get into peoples private stuff or there will be real punishments given out

You wouldnt want grandma and grandpa going i to your room and looking through all your private stuff

Geez parents are such flipping snowflake morons

No effective punishments for kids anymore

You do corporal punishments once or twice, and then just the threat of them afterwards curbs bad behavior

It works

Thats why libtards said no more of that

Look at the group of idiots raised without corporal punishment and tell me not having it works

When we visited the GP’s house, we were told exactly where the rifle was, and that we’d better not touch it. I didn’t need to go look to know it was there, and I wasn’t interested in knowing what consequences there were for touching it.

“The mom shared her concerns on a Reddit platform, asking fellow internet patrons “Am I The A**hole?”

Sorry Mom, yes you are.

Guns used for self-defense are worthless unloaded and stored in a safe.

Teach your kids gun safety and train them to use guns in a responsible manor.

If you have anyone in your house, the only safe place for an unlocked gun is on your hip, where it should be already.....

When I was a kid my dad had a shotgun in a closet. Never ever thought of touching it, but I knew where it was. Never thought of shooting anyone either, but if I needed to, I am sure one of us would use it to defend our family. Many “moms” today seem to be idiots.

I'd first like to know how many razor blades, carving knives, hot-air blowers stationed near bathtubs, bottles of drain-cleaner, malfunctioning toasters, etc. are in that household that the mother doesn't object to.

Did she ask them to remove all glass tables from their house?

More children are killed in accidents involving glass tabletops than in accidents involving guns.
