Trump’s 2016 campaign pledges on infrastructure have fallen short, creating opening for Biden

MILWAUKEE — Gerry Winkleman points across the Milwaukee River at the former tannery where he worked for almost two decades as a union welder, repairing blow pipes and net machines that produced thousands of leather shoes and handbags every year. Follow the latest on Election 2020

Winkleman, 74, drives through a stretch of downtown Milwaukee that once served as a hub of U.S. manufacturing, pausing occasionally to note the factories that have either shuttered or moved their production to China over the past three decades: the Pabst and Schlitz breweries; the Allis-Chalmers manufacturing giant; several different tanneries; the Briggs & Stratton foundry; and Kearney & Trecker, which produced milling machines.

Winkleman voted for a Republican presidential candidate for the first time in his life in 2016, largely due to Donald Trump’s promise to bring back manufacturing jobs and invest $1 trillion to rebuild U.S. infrastructure in Rust Belt states like Wisconsin. This year, Winkleman will vote for former vice president Joe Biden, a decision sealed in part by Trump’s decision to pursue tax cuts — which Winkleman says primarily benefited the rich — over infrastructure investments. McConnell and Ryan blocked Trump from pushing the massive infrastructure jobs-and-building program that was one of the top promises he made during the 2016 campaign.

He carried the upper Midwest with his promise - made again and again at every 2016 campaign rally - to invest $1 trillion in nee roads, bridges and airports.

But Paul Ryan and Mitch McConnell wouldn’t go along. They prioritized corporate tax cuts, but no infrastructure.

Imagine if the GOP under Trump had had huge infrastructure projects going in Wisc, Mich and Pennsylvania - states Trump won in 2016 but lost this week

Instead, those states reverted to the way they voted when Ryan was running with Romney on the national GOP ticket. The GOP will never win them - and will never return to the White House - by pushing Ryanism over the kind of populism that won it for Trump in 2016.

Not only was the WP involved in the coup that robbed the President of his first two years and later the silly impeachment, they now want to distract readers away from the vote fraud by explaining the President wasn’t able to accomplish what he said. Depraved.

Ummmm.... no. The steal would be just bigger to overcome more Trump votes, if any. The electorate voted for Trump. Headed for a 300+ Electoral College win. THe 'Rats are stealing it. 700k ahead in PA, being whittled down to nothing and then Bitem wins. If instead in PA Trump was ahead double that - 1.4M votes, same thing. Double the votes, double the Steal.

Let’s face it. The Dems would have only found more vote. And we would still be in the same position.

The question I haven’t heard asked is why the Democrat desperation at the moment in time? With this election?

Agreed. The establishment media are not the battle lines anymore - even to make fun of them.

And I don’t care what the Left thinks they believe anymore.

Infrastructure is roads, bridges, sewer lines, etc. Are they going to build sewers to empty factory buildings?

So why then did Trump increase his vote total by over 200,000 in this state if he supposedly did a lousy job on infrastructure there as this article claims?

This reminds me of Graig Nettles’ book BALLS in which he discussed instances in which sportswriters like Henry Hecht and others would go after Billy (or anyone else George Steinbrenner wanted ripped in the press) by saying they talked to players who supposedly were not happy about Billy or someone else. And everybody in the locker room knew that these writers were just making up stories like these about supposedly having talked to players.

“ ridges, sewer lines, etc. Are they going to build sewers to empty factory bholdings?”

What’s your point? Do you - along with Ryan and McConnell - oppose the infrastructure program that Trump promised? He promised rebuilding the nations airports, highways, dams etc. Ryan and McConnell said no. Are you saying they were right and Trump was wrong?

“Trump’s 2016 campaign pledges on infrastructure have fallen short, creating opening for Biden”

More bull shit from the Washington Post, who conveniently forgot that Obama and Biden had plenty of money and time to come up with infrastructure and they squandered the money (probably some of it went to Iran 150B) and laughed about it,

If you have someone interested in developing property, the infrastructure will be put in. The article was talking about closed breweries, factories, that were empty. The property needs to be redeveloped, otherwise, it’s a bridge to nowhere.

All the crap they threw at President Trump did not stick, not even Chinese flu, as the economy came roaring back.

Guess China said it was time and called in its markers.

Still, why Biden? Why not legitamately try? Go for a better candidate? Because...Biden has something. Do not know what it is. Is it names? Is it to hide the network of horror he and his buds have set up?
Do you realize, sure you do, that human trafficking will ramp back up? Trump was stopping that.

President Trump legitimately beat all the candidates, including Biden. He would have gone after ALL of their corruption in a second term, no holds barred. (BTW, where is that rotund, bagpiper?) In the book “Keys to the Presidency” Trump turned all the keys. They HAD to cheat or give up.
