Mr. Barrs authorization prompted the Justice Department official who oversees investigations of voter fraud, Richard Pilger, to step down from the post within hours, according to an email Mr. Pilger sent to colleagues that was obtained by The New York Times. [ ]
Mr. Barr said he had authorized specific instances of investigative steps in some cases. But he made clear in a carefully worded memo that prosecutors had the authority to investigate only substantial allegations of irregularities, warning that specious, speculative, fanciful or far-fetched claims should not be a basis for initiating federal inquiries.
Mr. Barrs directive ignored the Justice Departments longstanding policies intended to keep law enforcement from affecting the outcome of an election. And it followed a move weeks before the election in which the department lifted a prohibition on voter fraud investigations before an election. [ ]
It would be problematic enough if Barr were reversing longstanding Justice Department guidance because of significant, substantiated claims of misconduct that could presumably be handled at the local and state level, said Stephen I. Vladeck, a professor at the University of Texas School of Law.
But to do so when there is no such evidence and when the presidents clear strategy is to delegitimize the results of a proper election, is one of the more problematic acts of any attorney general in my lifetime, Mr. Vladeck added.
This is his actual job. His job isn’t to declare without an investigation that there’s “nothing to see there”. His job is to make sure there’s no problem.
That he is unwilling to do this is an indictment of being complicit at some level.
It it was me, I'd stick around just so I could rub his face in it when it was all proved a crock of bull.
But, that's me.
My thought too. It is fine for the Obama DOJ to investigate the arrest of a black professor by Obama on disenfranchisement grounds, but this magnitude of a problem is dismissed as a civil Right issue.
Unbelievable. What would Jim Crow say, eh?
“Not sure if this is good or bad news.”
Flushed out a quail.
This guy was part of the Obama Lois Lerner IRS Rea Party coverup.
“The subpoena follows on the heels of an Apr. 23 letter from 17 members of the committee to the DOJ for materials concerning the Departments involvement in efforts to scrutinize tax-exempt applicants after emails surfaced between Pilger and the Internal Revenue Services Lois G. Lerner where they discussed singling out and prosecuting tax-exempt applicants, at the urging of a Democraic senator, reads a statement from the committee issued today.
Judging by his statement, he seems OK with ignoring potential fraud.
As far as I’m concerned, if you disagree with your boss to the point where you can’t do your job according to his direction, resignation is a good idea.
(And the supposed ‘professor’ who suggests that the President is attempting to ‘delegitimize’ a ‘proper’ election, seems to be ignoring a lot of stuff - including history - in favor of a mere personal and predetermined opinion.)
Deep State Rats are being flushed out of the DOJ... Finally
Another fetid swamp backwater has been drained.
I wish Barr would stay out of it. He is not our friend
“Mr. Barrs directive ignored the Justice Departments longstanding policies intended to keep law enforcement from affecting the outcome of an election. And it followed a move weeks before the election in which the department lifted a prohibition on voter fraud investigations before an election.”
In other words, Dems have long been free to commit election fraud without without fear of investigation or law enforcement - elections were a law free zone.
This was just a matter of policy though, not a real legal protection. Now the policy has changed.
he couldn’t have been very good at his job; look what’s happening.
Now that is interesting!
Its disgraceful that this biased lawyer, who colluded with Obama IRS chief Lois Lerner to persecute Tea Party groups and who refused to testify under oath in Congress in 2014, was still in charge of the elections unit in the DOJ. Until today, when work appeared on the horizon. https://t.co/emU8hqBQM7; Harmeet K. Dhillon (@pnjaban) November 10, 2020
lol wut?
later
But to do so when there is no such evidence . . .”
NO SUCH EVIDENCE? Yet another delusional, commie-loving
prof. speaks up. Dear Lord, save our students from a-holes like this.
But to do so when there is no such evidence...” — Stephen I. Vladeck, Professor at the University of Texas School of Law.
Professor Vladeck is not very well read on the scores or hundreds of substantial pieces of evidence of wholesale corruption of the election by Democrats. To be THAT ignorant can only mean one thing — he’s a Democrat.
My gut tells me Pilger was trying to play coverup the fraud and was pissed when Barr went around his authority.
It shows just how deep the lying liars of liarsville are entrenched in government, acadamia, and the professions.
