I still consider myself a newbie. I started lurking in 2005 and joined FR in 2007. Started donating monthly in 2008 (or so).
I have seen this over and over again. There are a lot of people, both here on FR and out in the real world, who have conditioned themselves to look at the dark side of things, maybe to keep from being let down. I try to be upbeat but temper myself, but sometimes it is hard not to read the Debbie Downer posts and get depressed.
