An odd story I heard in a radio interview maybe April or May was a woman who was asked how part of Italy had a big Covid outbreak. She said the Chinese had been buying up all the textile and weaving companies and warehouses and setting up their Chinese owners as local rulers of a region of Italy. No one can oppose them locally. Chinese cornered the market and control prices for exports now. Travel by so many Chinese had spread the Covid rapidly in that region.
Just like at the meat making plants where Chinese businessmen owners visited here and then they had the coronavirus outbreaks and had to close.
That’s pretty much a true story from what I’ve heard from a friend that works in the fashion industry. You don’t mess with the Chinese there. And yes, the Chinese presence is why so many Italians died early on.
