Report: Joe Biden's Gun Tax Plan Would Cost Gun Owners $34 Billion
PJ Media ^ | 11/19/2020 | Rick Moran

Joe Biden’s plan to tax gun owners for the right to keep and bear arms could reach as high as $34 billion, according to an analysis by the Washington Free Beacon.

On the campaign trail, Biden made several promises relating to guns that he is going to have a hard time getting through Congress. Assigning liability for gun deaths to manufacturers is only the tip of the iceberg. Biden’s far-reaching program would drive online gun retailers out of business, which would include retailers selling gun supplies. It would force owners of AR-15s and other similar weapons to either sell them or register them with the government — paying $200 for the privilege.

The plan appears to harass and punish gun owners and manufacturers — simply because liberals hate guns.

Biden wants to ban new sales of AR-15 rifles and similar firearms as well as any ammunition magazine holding more than 10 rounds—sizes that come standard on most modern rifles and handguns. He would pay some owners to surrender the affected guns they legally own and force everyone else to register the guns under the National Firearms Act. The proposal would require owners to pay a $200 tax stamp for each item.

The report said the kinds of rifles Biden wants to ban made up nearly half of all rifles produced in 2018. Oliva said the group’s estimates may actually be undercounts. While NSSF used the latest Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives manufacturer reports, those only cover up to 2018, and Oliva said AR-15s have continued to grow in popularity since then.

Well since gangs with guns won’t pay, why should we? Just declare yourself a gang member; problem solved. (/sarc)

It’s going to cost the government a lot more than that when Alan Gura gets ahold of it.

This is all blatantly unconstitutional. But let them try it. 50/50 they lose the entire NFA with the current SCOTUS.

No one ever wins a defensive war. You need to strike at the leadership’ their enclaves, their minions and their families. Do not fight a defensive war.

“He can’t force anything on anyone if noone obeys.”

Not directly, but don’t get caught using your now unregistered weapon (or mag) in defense, open carry, or at the range, or you’re a felon.

That’s why the Georgia Senate races are so critical - if we win, the Courts don’t get packed, and it’s very likely that our majority will throw out anything done by a Biden diktat - plus, we’ll have a fighting chance to block any Legislation, since it means that the filibuster stands and the Democrats will have to round up at least 11 Republican votes in the Senate (and no, there aren’t 11 gun-hating RINOs - there’s certainly, at least, 11 Trump-hating RINOs, but not 11 gun-hating RINOs).

That is the plan and will make them subject to the same legal sanctions as any other robber, rapists, and murder. But unlike the robber, rapists, and murder , they can depend on being prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law.

However, should you believe the propaganda that once Harris and Biden assume power, things will return to "normal" go for it! Biden and Harris are proven liars. Why should one one more lie make a difference?

Cant work. Cant just place a tax on guns like this. Not even with a EO. If EOs could tax guns Obama would have done that on his first day. Biden knows this. So unless he goes total tyrant and tries this should fail. Or there will be blood in the streets.

He can’t force anything on anyone if noone obeys.

The group put together by Biden and Harris along with their handlers and advisors, Stacy Abrams, etc. already have it figured out or will look to history for clues on how to obtain compliance.

Identify future and current owners and those who are the last owners of record and then impose a monetary fine, at least initially.

Lost in the lake? Show us the entire piece with the rusty serial number, otherwise you still own it, pal.

Alternatively declare gun ownership a health crisis: think of mask laws that are applicable even inside one's home.

If fines remain unpaid, attach paycheck or even seize bank accounts and assets per asset forfeiture laws.

A 113 years ago, in 1907...our great grandparents were first able to buy the rifle pictured. The semi-auto Winchester Model 1907.

This is a gun they could buy from a Sears catalog and have delivered via USPS. It was/ is a semi-automatic, high powered center-fire rifle, with detachable, high capacity magazine.

About 400,000 of these were produced before WW2. Civilians had hundreds of thousands of these semi-auto rifles for 40 years, while US soldiers were still being issued old fashioned bolt action rifles.

The 1907 fired just as fast as an AR15 or AK47 and the bullet (.351 Winchester) was actually larger than those fired by the more modern looking weapons..

The ONLY functional difference between the 1907 and a controversial and much feared AR15 is the modern black plastic stock.

To summarize:

The semi auto, so-called "assault rifle" is 110 years old. It isn't new in any way.

The semi auto rifle was not a weapon of war. The government MADE IT a weapon of war 40 years after civilians had them.

The semi-auto can be safely owned by civilians. The proof is that literally 3 generations of adults owned and used them responsibly and no one ever even noticed.

Want to fix the horror of mass shootings? Fix the things that have changed for the worse in the last 50 years.

Because the rifle technology in question was here long before this insanity.
