Legendary rock-and-roll guitarist and vocalist Eric Clapton is collaborating with Van Morrison on a song called “Stand and Deliver” that is critical of United Kingdom’s laughably stringent COVID lockdowns and their effects on live music. Predictably, liberals on Twitter are seething uncontrollably over the news. Clapton, the only three-time inductee to the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, told Variety magazine that he chose to collaborate with Morrison on the song after finding the effect of lockdowns on musicians “deeply upsetting.”
“We must stand up and be counted because we need to find a way out of this mess. The alternative is not worth thinking about. Live music might never recover,” Clapton stated.
Morrison, who founded the Save Live Music campaign, said “Eric’s recording is fantastic and will clearly resonate with the many who share our frustrations,” adding, “It is heart-breaking to see so many talented musicians lack any meaningful support from the government, but we want to reassure them that we are working hard every day to lobby for the return of live music, and to save our industry.”
The attacks on Clapton from unknown verified profiles on Twitter began almost immediately. Buzzwords such as “white supremacist,” stemming from Clapton’s collaboration with Morrison and and off-the-cuff remarks he made onstage in support of British nationalism in 1976, appeared at the vanguard of the outrage machine.
Of course Eric Clapton wrote an anti-lockdown song. He’s a white supremacist.

On the one hand, Eric Clapton and Van Morrison are former rock stars.
On the other hand, they're now 75-year-old white guys. https://t.co/n8HmsSx8av

I was today years old when I learned that Eric Clapton is a racist piece of shit.

Kinda like “I Shot the Sheriff” “Into the Mystic”!
Is it an anti-lockdown song or are they raising money for the people who can’t work?
Evidently racism/sexism/agism is OK when old straight white guys are the target.
Into The Mystic is my favorite Van Morrison tune.
L
They’ve gotten to the point where they just scream “white supremacist” at random events now.
Oppose government tyranny, get called a homophobic racist Neanderthal. I know so many noobs who just refuse to see the writing on the wall.
Believe it or not that’s almost a side thought regarding this article. The utter complete hatred from the left is on display again because when I think of white supremacists, Eric Clapton is the first person that comes to mind.
Yes that is beyond absurd. But the vile hate on social media should anger and terrify people.
and it should make people realize that even though it’s sad we lost two generations to the education system and lack of parenting, they exist and it’s very likely that we cannot exist together.
WTH are “unknown verified profiles on Twitter”?
Is that different than the “has been” verified profiles?
What else would one expect from the one-sided woke?
*Would you know my name, if I were wearing a mask?
For civilization to survive, Twitter must die.
This article is the perfect example of cheap garbage “journalism”. Find some idiot post from an anonymous source on Twitter, the more absurd the better, and publish it as if it is newsworthy. It’s garbage and it’s toxic.
‘White Supremacist’ - the new ‘n*****’, an ad-hominem epithet hurtled at a racial category, intended to demean & dehumanize the target.
Yes, there’s a few who are. Most slandered with the label aren’t.
Oh, probably he said something nice about a right-wing politician, or maybe he said something uncomplimentary about a left-wing politician. Old white men are not permitted opinions.
And yeah, I'm a guitarist, I'm a major lifetime Clapton fan, and I'm an old white man. Tough beans.
Agree social media is a disease
L-O-L-A Lola! Oh, wait. Wrong L girl.
For me it's Edgar Winter, for some reason.
Seriously, if Clapton supported British Nationalism in the 1970s, he probably had plenty of company - it was all about maintaining national identity after the U.K. joined the European Union. Arguments over changing the currency and all that. It was *not* anything race-related.
As usual, social media is teeming with stupid, belligerent children.
Just shaking my head.
I bet if Kanye and Li’l Wayne did the same, they would somehow be White Supremacists too.
I guess Coronavirus be a Virus Of Color or something.
My Brown-Masked Girl?
