California on Monday announced an app to help people track their exposure to the coronavirus, becoming the biggest U.S. state to take advantage of new technology from smartphone software makers Apple Inc. and Alphabet Inc.’s Google.
Beginning on Thursday, people in California can activate the exposure notifications tool from the settings menu on iPhones or by downloading the CA Notify App in the Google Play store on Android devices.
The apps enable Bluetooth signals between devices to determine when they are in close proximity, and the apps then anonymously alert users when a recent contact later tests positive.
At least 6 million people in the United States have tried the system in recent months across the 21 states and two territories that made apps available before California. Colorado and New York are among other states with apps. …

Having seen this type App work in Germany for five months, I would suggest that it’s more of a joke than anything else. It just says today...your ‘color’ turned from Green to Red, and it means that five to seven days ago...you might have been in a personal range of some person who developed Covid-19. Beyond that, it’s useless.
You could have a hundred folks wake up this morning....they’ve got the ‘red’ color, and they start to freak out...no symptoms but immediately wanting a test done. 99-percent might have nothing. But for that 24 hour period....waiting for the test results, they just freak out and get all hyped-up over nothing.
So turn off blue tooth unless you are actively using it. Or does thos work like all government notifications.. against your will.
“becoming the biggest U.S. state to take advantage”
becoming the biggest U.S. state to take DISadvantage of new technology
The newer cellphone technology will be used for more social engineering than just covid-19 .
Elections have consequences; so also doesn't "recall petitions".
It’s very easy to leave your phone in your car. Or at home. Or in a static bag in the microwave. Your choice.
There are a number of basic assumptions made by any “contact tracing app” that I have never seen discussed. Let’s say you test positive for the virus. There is only a fairly short period of time during which you actually can transmit the virus to someone else. Depending on the severity of your symptoms, the time can be very short, or it can be very long.
How is this time set in the app? How long before you were tested were you contagious? How long after the test? What time during the course of your disease were you tested? What is the type and severity of your symptoms? The answers to these questions are very important to your contact. They are clearly impossible to be known by the app. Thus it’s important to know what assumptions are made in the app.
Anything is better than turning “yellow” ... which far too many Americans have done over the past nine months ... particularly what those who were at one time “American men”. But things seem to be changing ... slowly, but accelerating ... as Americans are beginning to understand what we’ve done to ourselves. There’s something definitely in the air ... and it’s not just that this is normally a joyous time of the year ....
Like: Intentionally identifying oneself as "highly-contagious," and then stepping into a crowded subway, and watching all the "Nervous Nellies" get conniptions?

2 words if you can’t leave it at home: Faraday bag.
The whole point is to get them in for testing, and thus create false positives. That triggers a few hundred more people, more tests, more false positives. Pretty soon everybody's phone is beeping.
I have a friend and her family who all tested positive. Light to no symptoms. I told her....don’t you dare give them my name. I don’t want to be tested and don’t want to be bugged. She didn’t. We weren’t quite sure if I had been exposed or not anyway.
Voluntary now. How long before it’s “voluntary”? Then required before you can go into a public building. Then required to leave your home.
Cannot get a job or buy food without a vaccination.
Can be arrested or fined until you submit to the state.
!. I never have had a cell phone-—Kiss your app...
2. I left Calif over 16 years ago. Ain’t going back.
Too funny. The company where I work had several test positive (so they say) and they came to work anyhow. Then the company had the office employees tested and it took eight days for the test results to come back. Seems to be a non issue here.
