Republican Kentucky Sen. Rand Paul and Wyoming Rep. Liz Cheney exchanged heated words Thursday after the senator held up the passage of a $740 billion defense bill over language that could delay the withdrawal of U.S. troops from Afghanistan.
Paul opposes a provision that would limit the president’s ability to withdraw troops deployed overseas, arguing the bill would create “535 commanders in chief.” The senator took aim at Cheney during a lengthy speech on the Senate floor, accusing the House Republican Conference chair of supporting executive power to start military conflicts but not to withdraw from them.
“The neoconservative philosophy isn’t so much about a unity executive, isn’t so much about an all-powerful commander-in-chief,” Paul said. “The philosophy of these people is about war and substantiating war and making sure that it becomes and is perpetual war.”
The House voted to approve the defense spending bill earlier this week by a veto-proof 335-78 vote. President Trump had vowed to reject any bill that reached his desk if it did not include a repeal of Section 230, a provision which protects social media platforms from being liable for third-party posts.
Cheney, a proponent of the provision that Paul opposes, ripped the senator on Twitter for holding up a Senate vote.
“.@RandPaul is currently holding up passage of the #NDAA, blaming America, and delaying hazardous duty pay to hundreds of thousands of our service members and their families,” Cheney wrote. “Inexcusable. Rand and I do have one thing in common, though. We’re both 5’2” tall.”

It’s not the physical stature that counts, but the size of the heart.
The best war is the war that does not happen. This can only be assured with over whelming superiority of arms where our nation state is at risk. Do not go to war over minor things. When your nation state is at risk go to total war. If one understands this, total war is the exception. The bad guys do understand total destruction. Only the insane choose total destruction, we can deliver this destruction.
Odd that I have given many sentences above that can be translated to just the school ground of bullies. Some can kick your ass as some of you can kick their ass. You accrue allies to kick their ass as they do. The scene of international debate and conflict is exactly the same as the old school yard.
I don’t admire Dick Cheney anymore. He complained to Mike Pence about their foreign policy. He’s an arrogant man who also just wants us to be at war like his daughter.
Rand Paul is a serious man making a serious point about the kind of forever wars that Cheney and her dad love to fight with other people’s sons. Liz Cheney is an unserious woman who can’t argue on substance, so she resorts to personal insults.

I forgot to add this. On rare occasion is the non allied of either side but of high intelligence and most abused. He or she is the quiet one. When the abuse becomes intolerable he or she is still quiet but becomes the most dangerous man or woman.
Can anybody help me out here? I’m not having any luck finding out how many years Liz, her father, Liz’ husband, or her sister and her husband Heather have served in the military. Could it be that the neocons believe in perpetual war because its the deplorables who are sent overseas and not them?
War is only good if our strategic interests are vital. If such just crush the enemy and establish what is needed. If not is the case have a drink and a good day.
I’m likely down the middle....if you have to go to war then win it by whatever means is necessary and then get out...and stop this rebuilding nations you’ve been to war with.
If you can’t win it then don’t go to war.
Wyoming can do better than Liz Cheney. A lot better. Disappointing.
Once again, Trump never bashed Rand on his looks, but the sophormic daughter of the previous Republican administration does.
