In 1980 at Lake Peignure in LA Texaco drilled in the middle of the lake into a salt mine.

The lake drained like a bathtub.

Just followed up on those links..... very interesting and I can’t believe I missed that event (I worked in a salt mine many years ago).... and it occurred just a few miles to the northwest of Avery Island.
