On Sunday night, as news broke of one of the broadest state-sponsored cyberattacks in recent memory, former civilian cybersecurity chief Christopher Krebs was stuck tweeting. A state-sponsored attacker linked to Russia had compromised senior-level cabinet agencies, implicating huge portions of the government and private sector. Fired in November from his role leading the Cyber and Infrastructure Security Agency (CISA) after a political spat with President Trump, Krebs had to watch it all take place from the outside.
“I have the utmost confidence in the CISA team and other Federal partners,” Krebs said. “I’m sorry I’m not there with them, but they know how to do this.”
While it’s hard to say if he would have handled the hack differently, Krebs’ position on the sidelines underscores just how ill-prepared the United States is for a compromise of this scale. For the past four years, Trump has treated the federal cybersecurity effort as one more partisan battleground, with attacks and vulnerabilities embraced or rejected largely on the basis of their value as a political cudgel. Faced with a government-spanning compromise that will require deep analysis and careful cooperation, there’s little trust left to draw on, which could make a bad problem even worse.

This breach lies at the feet of the US Congress and ALL US intelligence agencies.
For at least 30 years Congress has resisted...nay prevented...any policing of the IT supply chain. And this "hack" was a direct result of corrupt code placed within Solar Winds' supply chain. Much of which is foreign.
Just like Cisco, Intel, HP, Microsoft and many other giants of the industry.
And the problem has been known to all in government for decades.
But ignored because the "giants" needed to squeeze a few more billions. At the expense of National Security.
Squirrel!
“Trump’s chaos made America a sitting duck for cyberattacks”
https://webmail.lerctr.org/~transit/healy/crap.wav
Russell Brandom is an idiot. Defense against cyber attacks is not an “out-front” activity. It happens 24/7/365(.25) in the background.
Breaches are not a political consequence, unless the politician in question posted user names and passwords online.
Some politicians are dumb enough to do so - Trump? Not so much!
I’ve heard that Trump’s chaos also causes acne and gingivitis. Pass it on.
For four years the Left created chaos non-stop, because they
never accepted the Trump victory.
They acted out, and created chaos.
Trump did not create chaos, and those who say he did are
still creating chaos.
I will NEVER accept Biden as a legitimate president.
Why is this idiot labeling this “Trump’s chaos”? Trump certainly did not cause the “chaos”. He is a victim of it, same as those who voted for him. If anyone should be labeled as owning this “chaos”, it would be the Dimmocommies, who instigated every single bit of it.
I will never accept ANY pedophile as President.
The attacks began on Krebs watch while heading DISA so if anyone is to blame, its him.
Most of the chaos of the last four years is a result of the Democrafs resistance campaign.
” Don’t blame Trump for this.”
I didn’t.
And you didn’t read post #1.
Any chaos was caused by (1) Democrat Senators and Representatives refusing to acknowledge Trump as a legitimate President, (2) orchestrating a Russian hoax with the help of a former Secretary of State and Presidential candidate, (3) impeaching him on no grounds, (4) encouraging and cheering on violent anti-government mobs.
I’m sure it was all done on purpose for just another attack on President Trump. Attacks have taken place under other Presidents, especially the oh wise one Obama.
Just a hit piece, retribution for Trump firing Chris.
Remember all the terrorist attacks we’ve had under Pres. Trump. None.
Since when are Freepers unable to read anything beyond the headline?
How far we have fallen.
There were huge hacks in the Obama admin ... the Chinese got the records of every federal employee, civilian, military and retired.
Just look at this thread.
Freepers (of all people!) are just reading the headline and then emoting.
