Haaland reportedly picked as Biden’s interior secretary (NM Native American Dem US Rep NM-1, radical anti-oil and gas and mining activist, will ban O&G leasing and fracking on federal lands, 40% of NM oil production is on federal lands)

SANTA FE — New Mexico congresswoman Deb Haaland has been tapped as President-elect Joe Biden’s interior secretary, according to The Washington Post and other national news outlets.

If confirmed, Haaland, 60, would make history as the nation’s first-ever Native American cabinet secretary and would lead an influential federal agency that oversees more than 500 million acres of public lands and tribal issues.

Haaland, who is a Laguna Pueblo member and former San Felipe Pueblo tribal administrator, had been touted as a potential Cabinet pick by many fellow House members and Native American groups.

As head of the Interior Department, Haaland would also oversee aspects of oil and gas drilling sites on public lands. In her recent campaign for Congress, Haaland had said that it was time for New Mexico to rethink it’s reliance on the oil and gas industry, citing droughts in the Southwest, floods in the Southeast and burning wildfires in the West. She has said she supports a ban on fracking and the Green New Deal.

Supporters of the oil and gas industry were quick to denounce her nomination and said they would be reaching out to major energy-producing states to say her nomination would “ruin our nation’s energy sector.”

“Deb Haaland would be the most radical left Interior Secretary in the history of our country as proven by the fact she has stood against New Mexico’s energy workers every day of her public life,” Larry Behrens, the western states director for Power the Future, said in a statement. “Joe Biden told Americans he didn’t support the Green New Deal or a full ban on fracking, yet Deb Haaland proudly embraces both extreme positions.”

Forty percent of oil produced in New Mexico and over 50 percent of natural gas is produced on federal lands here in New Mexico. Over 35 percent of total NM state revenues come from the oil and gas industry and it employees multiple tens of thousands of workers directly and indirectly in the state. In a separate action, the NM State Land office (also controlled by radical enviro activists) banned use of fresh water from state lands in oil and gas operations. Production revenues from oil and gas on state lands is dedicated to state education funding.

Hope she does well and not spread the New Mexico Poverty to the rest of the US. NM poverty is now the worst in the nation beating out Mississippi and Arkan-saw for the bottom.

All the tribes of Oklahoma went TRUMP and Oklahoma is doing well. But then Oklahoma has Oil, Gas, Coal and other mineral wealth.

Oh wait! When I lived there from 1947-1977, New Mexico has the same oil, gas, coal, other mineral wealth until the Dems began to shut it all down driving the state into Poverty.

This election was stolen in the big cities, mostly by black activists and poll workers. They don’t give a rat’s butt about fracking and apparently believe power for their cars, houses, and electronics appears by magic.

Democrats believe in magic in general. Like crime will end if you decriminalize it.

"...first-ever Native American cabinet secretary.."

Not quite as historic as President Ulysses S. Grant's 1869 appointment of General Ely S. Parker, full-blooded member of the Seneca Nation, to be the first Native-American Commissioner of Indian Affairs. General Parker served as General Grant's Military Secretary during the Civil War, and was in attendance at Appomattox Courthouse when General Robert E. Lee signed the surrender agreement.

No they didn’t and voted over for Trump however we know how that went down.

Back to high gas prices and foreign oil. Destroying America is their goal.

Sometimes, the best way to have policies over ridden, is to allow them to be implemented first.

I’ve been saying for a while, you can’t power a modern technological civilization of the sort Americans are accustomed to, using wind and solar, AKA the Green New Deal.

Anyone who thinks you can probably has a degree in advanced comparative gender studies or hope and change, or similar.

The Germans tried it. It is failing miserably. Look at their energy prices compared to ours, AND they are dependent on Russian natural gas and French nuclear power.

I hope you are right, but socialism has a way of burrowing in like scabies. Ask Venezuela if they have learned “the hard way”.

In my opinion, one of the greatest American dilemmas that put great weight on the country's prosperity and health was energy dependency and now we will be dependent again and back to war eventually. I hate the left and the fake right to my core.

BTW,look at NM and see how fast that state was turned blue and trashed.
