A SEVERE VARIANT of the coronavirus has been detected in South Africa which could explain the rapid spread of a second wave that affects younger people, the health minister said.
Known as the 501.V2 Variant, it was identified by South African researchers and details have been sent to the World Health Organization, Zwelini Mkhize said in a statement.
A team led by the Kwazulu-Natal Research Innovation and Sequencing Platform (KRISP), has sequenced hundreds of virus samples since the pandemic began, and “noticed that a particular variant has increasingly dominated the findings of the samples collected in the past two months,” he added.
It’s been reported that 88% of the latest results in the Western Cape province are from the new Covid-19 variant.
South African doctors have remarked that more patients are younger, and do not always have other conditions that amplify the virus’ effect, but are nonetheless suffering from more severe forms of Covid-19.
That “strongly suggests that the current second wave we are experiencing is being driven by this new variant,” Mkhize concluded.

Quite untrue. You can certainly editorialize, but spreading misinformation is not appropriate.
I exaggerated for sure, but with their health problems, it wouldn’t take much.

Well how convenient.
Vitamin d, and zinc, bioflavinoids, and artemesia are a lot safer. Double check on the artemesia if they take meds.
Good thing they don’t still have Apartheid, they’d need TWO strains.
But the point is you said something factual that is a total lie. There is no hubris. It’s an attempt to misrepresent the truth to advance an agenda. That was blatantly wrong and if I didn’t say anything o seriously doubt you would have fessed up

I think you are over the top here. The known side effects are rather flu like and with my parents not in good shape, it could end ugly. The regular flu (which doesn’t seem to exist anymore) could take them out. They are locked down in assisted living which is not doing them any good mentally. I see no reason to change what I said.
Great! The Chinese can release engineered variants every 6 to 12 months and keep the rest of the world on lockdown while they expand their economic, political, and military hegemony.
