Gina McCarthy, Deb Haaland And Gold King Mine
Victory Girls ^ | 12/20/20 | Nina Bookoput

Gina McCarthy and Deb Haaland are on Biden’s climate team. This should be interesting given both of their ties to the disastrous Gold King Mine spill of 2015.

That year, a mine up near Silverton, Colorado was under clean-up protocols by the EPA. The same EPA that Gina McCarthy was running at the time. Then, the spill happened. The Animas River turned into yellow sludge from southwestern Colorado all the way into and nearly through New Mexico.

Who lives in New Mexico and just the year before lost her bid to be NM Lieutenant Governor? Joe Biden’s new choice for Interior Secretary, Deb Haaland.

These women are two more examples of the bizarre cabinet Biden is building based on the singular purpose of identity politics.

Gold King Mine was planned sabotage, NOT “an accident”!

Seems like the assembly team is picking the worst of the worst initially. Hopefully for a cabinet that never gets seated.

We passed through Durango during the height of this mess, riding the local narrow gauge railroad. It was a colossal disaster. The river was literally orange.

Wonder if they can keep the poverty now infesting my home state of NM from spreading across the US.
60 years ago NM was a GREAT place to live with jobs, great schools, industry...Then the Dems took over and now New Mexico is the poorest state in the nation.

In the olden days the unofficial Arkansas motto was “Thank Heavens for Mississippi!” as Mississippi was the poorest state with Arkansas right behind.

Now the unofficial motto of both states is..”Thank Heavens for New Mexico!”

Amazing we all know what needs to be done and the agencies that are needed behind the president to do this are rotten to the core and will not participate. The president needs to use the powers given to him by the constitution

With Biden being incompetent the team that is handling the chores seems to be a collection of progressives right out of the Star Wars bar scene.

Any geologist or hydrogeologist would have known that the Gold King tunnels were full of water. There were natural springs above the tunnel level seeping away. That alone shows that the fractured rocks of the mountain were saturated with water. The EPA were such idiots digging out the reasonably stable collapse at the tunnel entrance. They were upset about a little acidic seep which could have been captured in some settling ponds and neutralized with lime.

The Gold King spill was EPA stupidity.

I don’t see a tie between Haaland and the Gold King mine spill in the article.

Who lives in New Mexico and just the year before lost her bid to be NM Lieutenant Governor?

Harris and her team are just pulling leftists from around the country that need employment or a boost to the next political level. She is the former chairman of the NM DNC. From Wiki:

Haaland is a member of the Laguna Pueblo people and a 35th-generation New Mexican. Haaland is a political progressive who supports the movements to abolish ICE and to implement the Green New Deal and Medicare For All.

She is a committed leftist who plays identity politics (racism) in every issue. She is an example of Biden’s adviser team using identity and race as the criteria for picking their leadership team.

I believe that the RATS have always controlled NM. About 40-50 years ago is when the real corruption showed up.

They had to concentrate on Global Warning! They could not be distracted by some leaky gold mine!

As crazy is sounds, that’s what the Greens are doing lately - they are ignoring real pollution (e.g. solar cells are really polluting) because they have to solve the imaginary one!
They even shut their own Michael Moore for suggesting that.

I remember in 1975, jeeping above Ouray Colorado. I came upon a mine with clear water flowing out of it’s mouth. I figured all the abandoned mines were full of water.

They should have left the Silverton mines alone.

I caught my first fish back in 1956 in the Animas at Farmington NM just east of the old bridge on S. Miller ave. Wonder if there are any fish in the river now.

Haaland is a political progressive who supports the movements to abolish ICE and to implement the Green New Deal and Medicare For All.

For New Mexican her selection as Interior Secretary is ten times worse than her elected position as Dem Rep for NM District 1. She is a rabid anti-oil, gas, mining activist who will have control of oil and gas leases, drilling and fracking on Federal lands and she has not been shy in her opposition to all fossil fuel extraction.

In New Mexico 40% of oil is produced on Federal lands and for natural gas it is over 50%. Over 39% of the total NM budget comes from direct and indirect revenues from the oil and gas industry. We who are associated with the industry are not optimistic that the great economic gains the industry had produced in NM before the pandemic will continue in our area. Hardest hit will be minorities as Hispanics (yes, including some illegals) have established or work in small businesses such as trucking, construction, and as heavy equipment operators. Many others have opened mobile food trucks that our RadDem governor isn't able to shut down. Many of those, without the educational or management ability or experience in oil and gas exploration or production operations, will find their futures severely limited when DOI's BLM staff reduces federal oil and gas operations.

Of course the budget impact on NM state government will be severe on top of the loss of tourism due to Gov. "Lockdown" Lujan-Grisham's shutdown of the state. However, the know- nothing liberal's in Santa Fe and northern New Mexico, school educated in climate change is an "existential threat" and diversity is always required everywhere regardless of merit, have no practical knowledge of how economies operate and expect continual bailouts from Uncle Sam.
