On Thursday’s “MSNBC Live,” Rep. Lloyd Doggett (D-TX) commented on a video of a large church service tweeted by Texas Gov. Greg Abbott (R) by saying that he applauds “those who want to share, as I do, their faith here at the Christmas time, but they are leading to the death of other people, both inside and outside their congregations.”
Doggett said, “I live on a street that has two churches, two or three more are within shouting distance of my house here in east Austin. They are all closed. I thought last night — or tonight, as they have normally Christmas Eve services, they’ve shown that good judgment. Our problem in Texas, frankly, is that we have, unfortunately, a Governor in Greg Abbott who, all along, has been more interested in pleasing President Trump than in protecting the health of Texans. And as a result of that, we have about 26,000 Texans that are not alive today. We will have more of those individuals die. I applaud those who want to share, as I do, their faith here at the Christmas time, but they are leading to the death of other people, both inside and outside their congregations.”

Dear Dem Rep. Doggett:
SOD OFF, TOSSER!
Lord Dogsh*t is a full-blown communist. His words about churches count for nothing.
I cannot say in any kind of Christian fashion what should happen to that statist POS.
Spoken like a true Communist.
They said it was okay to go vote even if you HAVE covid.
None of this has been about public health concerns.
A Democrat should be celebrating, less Christians.
UNCROWDED Church Services . . .”Leading to Hell?”. . . Woe to those who keep others from hearing the Gospel.
I was at my Church last night for Christmas Eve services. My Church is a small country church which during normal times we might break 100+ in attendance at Christmas Eve or Easter. Last night there were 17 who attended in person, and over 30 on Zoom. I say let the people who want to attend, attend. Restricting Church services is a violation of the 1st amendment.
Just reclassify them as George Floyd funerals. Problem solved.
But riots are just fine, got it.
This is what gets many conservatives. Since when does our government get to control our activities for our own good?
Quarantine for something that had broken quarantine from day one is an idiotic concept.
I remember when his Daddy was around and was buddies with LBJ.

It’s convenient - dying at church saves on funeral expenses
But not mosques, huh?
I also did on-site high-fidelity recordings of the choirs, again distributed on cassette tape, to spread joy to those who were unable to make it on the days the choirs performed -- for example, recording the entire first half of Handel's Messiah (Christmas) and second half (Easter).
This was in keeping with other traditions in that particular church. Mobile communion. Bible readings at nursing homes. Visits to members in hospital by the service groups within the Church.
How has your Church reached out?
Oh yeah, but all of those “protests” didn’t cause a problem, did they guvnor?
Mr. Doggett is an empty suit.....
Before Covid, my Church held a once a month service at the local nursing home. There were usually about 5 or 6 of us. Now we’re not allowed to go.
