I read a theory elsewhere that the cabinet et al already invoked the 25th Amrndmemt on secret, giving Pence control, and resigning so it can’t be undone.
Oh, I don’t know...I’d hate to deal with the education bureaucracy. ..been there, done that at lower level...maybe she just wants out.
Rush said that many Republicans are being told that if they want a future in government/DC they have to distant themselves from Trump.

With Trump’s support, she did a lot of good in expanding charter schools and protecting religious schools in order to give all kids more opportunity..

Resigning Cabinet Secretaries lowers the majority threshold for invoking the 25th Amendment. Maybe the next step is invoking the 25th with a majority of 3 or 4 cabinet secretaries still serving.

I believe cabinet secretaries are immediately replaced by their deputies. The Deputy AG, for example, became acting AG upon Barr’s resignation.
If she’s leaving because she did not want to be coerced into supporting the 25th amendment, then why is she saying that she’s leaving because of the riots?
And why shouldn’t she leave? Trump is leaving. He was duly elected to serve another four years. And you can list all sorts of excuses as to why he’s quitting, but the fact is, he is quitting.
