Harvard Law professor emeritus Alan Dershowitz said Democrats have virtually no chance of successfully impeaching and removing President Donald Trump before Inauguration Day on Jan. 20.
“The case cannot come to trial in the Senate. Because the Senate has rules, and the rules would not allow the case to come to trial until, according to the majority leader, until 1 p.m. on January 20th, an hour after President Trump leaves office,” Dershowitz said in a Fox Business interview on Sunday.
Dershowitz, who defended Trump during the Senate impeachment trial about a year ago, suggested that the Constitution does not allow for impeaching a former president.
“And the Constitution specifically says, ‘The President shall be removed from office upon impeachment.’ It doesn’t say the former president. Congress has no power to impeach or try a private citizen, whether it be a private citizen named Donald Trump or named Barack Obama or anyone else,” he said.
It comes as House Democrats have proposed articles of impeachment after Trump made a speech to protesters near the Capitol. Some critics have claimed Trump incited the crowd into violence before a group stormed the Capitol building.
Trump told the crowd beforehand that their protest shows “the kind of pride and boldness that they need to take back our country” and “let us walk down Pennsylvania Avenue.” The president did not tell the protesters to breach the Capitol or commit acts of violence and later condemned them.
At one point, Trump told the protesters to “peacefully and patriotically make your voices be heard.”
Another Trump defender during the House impeachment inquiry, law professor Jonathan Turley, explained that impeaching Trump over his speech would set a dangerous precedent.

Assign prosecutors to personally canvass and investigate. Check if military actually voted by asking them. Identify all voters by checking on their residency and citizenship. If found they do not qualify charge Illegals including state visitors known as snowbirds also include any technical computer fraudulent programming testimony when presenting to the court and get these election results tossed. Try and get it done SAP before the 20th

The Democrats are drunk with power. They are badly overplaying their hand and will go broke. The high point of their hatred and hypocrisy will be on full display in the House when Nancy and her minions begin their rump, unfair proceedings. The people will be disgusted. IMHO patriots will assemble peacefully on inauguration day and loudly chant “Fraud, Fraud,Fraud” as Biden takes his oath. Make sure he hears it. The stench of illegitimacy will always cling to Biden.

Of course they can. Who’s gonna stop them and how? The Rinos? The Supreme Court? They will do it and say it’s legit and the Supreme Court will say nobody has any standing to challenge it.

Alan is a Classical Liberal, a rare breed these days. Classical Liberals are known today as American Conservatives because it is basic same principals.
Democrats are no longer the liberal party, they are the socialist/communist party pretending to be a left of center party. But left of center sailed 2 decades ago for them. But they pretend to keep their union and blue collar workers on board.
The democRAT cabal is scared shitless that Trump is going to expose their crimes to the American public. They know what they did and know that Trump knows too. Some of them are headed to prison if they can't head him off at the pass before he spills the beans.
That's why they are so desperate to impeach him as soon as possible.....as in yesterday.....even though he has less than 10 days left in office. Fat Nadler wants the vote to impeach to be taken before and without any hearings taking place or evidence being presented. Talk about showing their bias.
This impeachment and the 25th Amendment will go nowhere. Trump is still too smart for any of them.

cabinet member impeached. Tryed to resign.
Sam Houston was tried in Congress as a private
citizen under different rules.
I posted the case of Grant’s secretary of war. He was impeached after resigning. Perhaps someone else did also.
If the dems want to do this, they will. There’s nothing to stop them. Getting two thirds to convict in the Senate is another matter but nothing is certain.
Yeah, he was really “honest” when he defended OJ Simpson and Slick Willie tooth-and-nail.
