Bill Belichick declined to receive the Presidential Medal of Freedom from President Trump, seemingly breaking from a friendship with the billionaire business mogul.
Belichick put out a statement Monday after a report surfaced he would receive it later this week.

If I was Trump I would not have offered the honor to Belichick. A coach with a great winning record, but with questionable ethics. What did he do to earn the medal?

Partly because there aren’t a lot of high profile people that will identify as a friend of Trump. I’m sure this was set up a while ago, and after the events of 1/6, the pats execs probably told belechick forget it.
So he turned on his friend.

I don't know why Trump would offer such a high honor to some football coach in the first place. Dumb and petty IMO.

I don’t really understand what he did to deserve it anyway. I agree. And I like both Bill and Donald. But the Medal should denote extraordinary conduct, not just popularity.
But then again, Obama gave the Medal to luminaries like Ellen DeGeneres and Joe Biden. So who's to say any more?
