Don Mattingly was THE greatest ballplayer I ever saw.
I get chills just watching him swing the bat.
As a kid, I was a Cardinals’ fan and Stan Musial was my first sports idol. Although I’m right-handed, “Stan the Man” caused me to bat left-handed...and eventually play golf left-handed but tennis right-hnaded.
Although Stan Musial is rightfully in the MBL hall of Fame, he is THE most underrated superstar athlete and, in life, was a most humble human being.
I was actually playing a Little League game when we got the news.
But you’ll never convince me that Al Downing didn’t groove that pitch.
Yes, it’s coming back now. Everybody was watching. One of the all time greats.
The headline locally was the Blue Jays sign Springer. Apparently he’s a hot free agent or something. I have no idea who he is. Spectator Sports is close to dead for me. I do know the teams playing this weekend in the NFL. 3 of the 4 I can name the QBs. Beyond that I couldn’t name any of the players. Won’t watch either game but I expect the home teams to win. The Super Bowl is a longshot for me to watch any of. Times change.
If he wasn’t pitching, he was playing the outfield
No word in any articles that he was suffering from any health issues - no disease etc. Let’s watch THEM walk this back now.. They will twist themselves into pretzels to change the facts. But watch out - if it was the vaccine, Trump will be IMPEACHED again and again and again and THEN arrested for “murder” which Nancy thinks he’s guilty of already. I wish I could serve on a jury for her some day...Before a word is spoken by prosecution or defense - GUILTY is the verdict!
Can’t we make sure certain politicians get the same vaccine if in fact, it was the cause of his death?
I’ve always been a Yankee fan but knew when another “great one” came on the scene.
Barry Bonds* is to the home run record as Joe Biden* is to the presidency.
Almost no doubt about it. Game was in prime time on national TV with millions watching at home. This was "going to be the night."
MLB practically ordained it. So the pitch went right down the middle...all Hank had to do was swing.
Downing vehemently denies it, of course.
Nationally televised game in front of a home crowd...you know that's what everybody in MLB wanted for the record breaker.
I could have hit that pitch, LOL!
“”People often forget that he was such a great pitcher “”
Pitched left handed. I’ve read that he threw right handed but everything online says he threw left handed also.
Read a book about his life not too long ago and can’t remember the title...none of the covers online look familiar but it was a great book. He really needed a babysitter to get him on the straight and narrow - to keep him there was another job!
“Hope to heck the vaccine didn’t do it.”
That thought is out there. Aaron died of a massive stroke which is not listed as a side effect of the vaccine. His overall health at the time of death has not been made public, but he was 86 years old and probably carried different health problems brought on by that advanced age which COULD have included heart disease and other related problems. Heart disease is one of the listed warnings for both the disease and the vaccine. He was at his home when he passed.
He did take the virus on January 5.

Their response: Okay boomer.
That too.
Loved the man as a player. In retirement, he was very angry, always angry. I hope he finds peace.
I couldn't have said it better.
