PHOENIX — Arizona Republicans voted Saturday to censure Cindy McCain and two prominent GOP officials who have found themselves crosswise with former President Donald Trump.
The censures of Sen. John McCain’s widow, former Sen. Jeff Flake and Gov. Doug Ducey are merely symbolic. But they show the party’s foot soldiers are focused on enforcing loyalty to Trump, even in the wake of an election that saw Arizona inch away from its staunchly Republican roots.
Party activists also reelected controversial Chairwoman Kelli Ward, who has been one of Trump’s most unflinching supporters...

Meanwhile, Maricopa County is still refusing to allow a forensic examination of the votes in that county even after a court order that they do so and Ducey has made NO EFFORT WHATSOEVER to make any moves to ensure that county complies with that court order.

It was said that Goldwater’s candidacy in 1964 was when conservatives gained control of the GOP, but it wasn’t really true. What actually happened was that the RINO’s learned to become phony conservatives. The masks began coming off during the Trump years.
Conservatives have been thwarted in trying to gain a majority of Republicans in the House or Senate, because McConnell, the party machinery and corporate money always make sure the RINO’s get the nominations. Loeffler beating Collins in GA is an example. McConnell crushed conservative Mo Brooks in Alabama by sending lots of PAC money to Strange, but Moore messed up his plan so he had to torpedo him in the general. In 2010, McConnell backed independent Murkowski over the winner of the GOP primary, Tea Party candidate Joe Miller. Etc.
Trump might start a new party, but if he doesn’t he can crush the GOP establishment candidates in the primaries - including McConnell if he runs again in 2026. That could turn out to be Trump’s biggest legacy.
