MADISON, Wis. (AP) — Wisconsin Assembly members will vote Thursday whether to overturn Gov. Tony Evers’ mask mandate order.
If Assembly members vote to repeal the order, Wisconsin will become one of only 10 states without statewide mask mandates. However, masks will still be required in some of its largest cities thanks to local ordinances.
State law gives the Legislature the power to overturn emergency orders issued by the governor, a move that does not require the governor’s approval to take effect. The state Senate voted 18-13, with all Democrats and two Republicans against, to overturn the order on Tuesday. The Assembly scheduled a final vote on Thursday.
Republican opponents of the order argue the issue is about Evers and his powers as governor, not public health. Evers could always come to the Legislature and ask for an extension of his health order that would allow for the mask mandate to stand, they argue.
Wisconsin has had a statewide mask mandate in effect since August. The current Evers order is scheduled to run until March 20.

It’s a real shame that this Republican dominated state assembly and senate won’t vote for enforcing a fair election process. Nothing else they do matters without it.

A year later an mandates still have not passed legislatures
Here in New York, we just rec’d a notice from our school that the state has announced county “color codings” have been completely removed. Schools/sports can now simply return to normal with “reasonable precautions.”
Amazing how quickly after January 6 the pandemic has been fixed.
The GOP is useless. If a tool does not work and all attempts to fix it have failed it is time to get a new tool. We need a new party because the GOP doesn't deliver what Americans want and it never will.
