Why does Trump meet with these people? Simple, hetells them, “Get with the program or be sunk by my 3rd party. It is my way or I burn it to the ground. I’m not threatening you, I am promising you.”

Trump has no choice - there are no other options at the moment and supposedly Trump has decided against a 3rd party, per WSJ. The reason is that he can’t start a 3rd party while at the same time promoting Trump supporting candidates in GOP primaries. He can’t pit his 3rd party candidate against a Trump supporting candidate in the general election. It wouldn’t make sense.
