I would also consider you an example of MY failure to educate you about brainwashing, gaslighting, and how totalitarians take control.
Many from our generation messed that up. A lot of parents thought communism/socialism collapsed and we could just teach our kids to "be good". They didn't realize that the Long March Through the Institutions had penetrated our schools and was teaching an entirely different version of what "be goo" meant. As parents, we have to be explicit on sex and on politics with our kids.
