The Cowboys for Trump founder is charged with knowingly entering or remaining in any restricted building or grounds during the riots at the U.S. Capitol.
Griffin wants to be released on the "standard conditions recommended by Pretrial Services, or such other conditions as the Court deems necessary to assure his appearance, so that he does not remain incarcerated pretrial for a period of time longer than the statutory maximum sentence should he be convicted.”
Griffin's attorney has argued that his client is "not a crazy person even though he has made some unfortunate statements."
In a now-deleted Facebook post, the founder of Cowboys for Trump made a prediction about Inauguration Day. He said “blood will run out of the building." He was arrested in Washington, D.C. ahead of Inauguration Day.
A preliminary hearing is scheduled for Feb. 8.

This is a no bail crime, but they cannot arrest or do not hold the people who tried to burn down the federal courthouses, tore down/vandalized statues etc?
If I recall they charged Dr. Simone Gold for basically the same thing, when she went to protest covid treatment policy and the limitations on HCQ etc.
Maybe Trump could have pardoned some people besides black drug dealers and close friends...

If I was a juror in any such case my vote would be “not guilty” unless the prosecution presented firm evidence that the accused was directly responsible for serious injury (or death) or was responsible for serious property damage or theft.
In a DC courtroom these defendants don’t have a prayer of getting a fair trial.

The rioters, whether they support Trump or were there just to instigate insurrection, all need to stay in jail, be prosecuted to the full extent of the law, and make clear to everyone that this does not represent what Trump stands for or his supporters. Yes, throw them all under the bus.
Many of the people who entered the Capitol that day were Trump supporters and caught up in the chance to actually go inside their house. The people’s house. They were peaceful and just looking around. I would have been with them if I had been there.

They did not riot! Watch the videos of the majority entering the Capitol and walking politely between the ropes. They were in awe. Not at all causing chaos nor “rioting”. Riots are what we all watched from Antifa, BLM and looters. None of that happened by the Trump supporters. Your sense of condemnation is NOT justified.
If a man walks into your house and does no harm you would give him the same penalty as the guy who breaks in and trashes everything then walks out with your property. I hope you are held to the same standard you impose on others someday and are shown no compassion.

No, I oppose rioting, looting, mayhem, and violence, regardless of the reason. You have to be blind to not see how this damages Trump supporters. These 100-200 people ruin the well-earned reputation of tens of millions of loyal, law-abiding Americans that support Trump.
