I suspect that's the goal. Substitute an oath to "avoid extremism" without "extremism" being defined and you can discharge any soldier who isn't hard left as time goes by.

Illegal? Yes. Unconstitutional? Yes. So what? There is no longer any Federal office that will reliably enforce Constitutional or even legal requirements anymore.
