Impossible Burgers' additive that makes plant-based food 'bleed' needs more FDA testing, claims suit that questions whether 'heme' is safe to eat

I’ll never know....
It is pretty loaded with saturated fat as well.
We have been told for decades by our betters that processed foods are bad, now they want to shove a processed imitation food down our throats.
A relative who pays extra for organic, non-GMO foods calls me a barbarian for refusing to try “impossible” meats. I just smile and ignore the absurdity. Me? I’ll stick with mostly venison, plus the occasional duck, squirrel pie, or fresh trout/bass.
Fake meat, fake noose........NO GOOD FER NUTHIN’!
Coming up on Mardi Gras, give me Red Beans & Rice, Gumbo, Dirty Rice. Hurricanes all around.
Fake meat… who cares
Just for grins, Mrs rktman picked some pre pkgd veggie, uh, patties. IF it was all there was, yeah. As long as there are REAL meats available, we’ll stick with that.
Ask your girlfriend if she likes fake meat.
There’s your answer.
“Eat recycled food. It’s good for the environment and ok for you.”
I know. Me neither. If someone wants to eat one, they are welcome to.
I won’t.
anything that is processed is plant based...
Safe and Delicious are not always the same thing.
Cod Liver Oil is supposed to be ‘safe’ too.
Most people eat food that is delicious.
Otherwise, might as well just take a vitamin and be done with it.
Anything is possible.
But then again,
They are now saying that soybeans are bad for you so who knows.....
I have a friend and another relative who are the same way. Organic this, whole that, non-processed this, which is fine by me because you can eat whatever you want.
They were one of the first to eat this stuff. I was telling them you can’t grow this straight out of the ground or obtain it from butchering so it’s definitely processed etc. The saturated fat I think may be higher than a regular beef patty.
They will both try to convince you that it’s healthy, good for you, great for the planet. All because it doesn’t contain beef and is “plant-based”.
It may not be bad or possibly good tasting but I seriously doubt it’s all that just because it checks off certain “enviro cred” checkboxes.
Another relative who isn’t into all of the organic or vegan lifestyle tried an impossible burger for the heck of it and said it was good. He didn’t go into thinking this is going to taste bad etc. but he really likes trying new things.
If only we could develop some process by which we could take plant material as an input and have steaks as an output.
One thing is for sure ya can't fake bacon.
It’s already here, it’s called cattle. Cattle eat their natural diet, grass, and presto; steaks.
Back in the early seventies in Arkansas, I saw some words that someone had made in the dust on the back of a truck with a finger: “Eat More Possum.”
........ I believe it is a form of Beet juice extract .....
