Italian study suggesting COVID predates China outbreak sparks scepticism

ROME (Reuters) - An Italian study supporting the case that the novel coronavirus was circulating outside China earlier than thought has sparked doubts among some Western scientists who called for further tests.

A paper published by the Italian Cancer Institute (INT) describes the presence of neutralizing antibodies to SARS-CoV-2 in blood taken from healthy patients in Italy in October last year during a lung cancer screening trial.

All of the patients in the study were asymptomatic despite most being 55-65 years old and having been smokers. This would normally be a high-risk group for COVID-19, so it is puzzling why all patients were asymptomatic.”

Italy’s first COVID-19 patient was detected on Feb. 21 in a small town near Milan, in the northern region of Lombardy. But the Italian researchers’ findings show 11.6% of 959 healthy volunteers enrolled in the cancer screening trial between September 2019 and March 2020 had signs of having already encountered the SARS-CoV-2 coronavirus, most of them well before February.

A further SARS-CoV-2 antibodies test was carried out by the University of Siena for the same research paper, called “Unexpected detection of SARS-CoV-2 antibodies in the pre-pandemic period in Italy”.

It showed that in six cases, the antibodies were able to kill SARS-CoV-2. Four of the cases dated back to October 2019, meaning the patients had become infected in September.

So 11 out of 956 high risk people got Covid in Italy and not one of them had a cough or fever?

Unlikely. Highly unlikely.

Oh, and these asymptomatic carriers were infected in September with a highly contagious virus somehow and, yet, their families didn't get it?

and they were exposed in September but the first official case in Italy didn't occur until February? 6 MONTHS LATER!

From our own experiences with this virus, we know none of this is possible.

This is a coverup manufactured by China with the same level of quality as everything else they manufacture. IOW, it is sloppy and it falls apart with very little effort.

It sounds like Italy is trying to take credit for spreading the Kung Flu. Good for them.

Do Italians eat a lot of bats? This is a side of their cuisine with which I am unfamiliar.

Sounds like someone got paid off to corrupt some lab specimens.

Italy has a large Chinese population. That is why they were hit so hard early.

The clothing industry imported Chinese rather than outsource to China so they could still say their suits and shoes are Italian.

The Barcelona (Spain) sewage treatment plant folks collect daily samples. At some point in mid-2020, they went back and did tests over the samples.

They went past January 2020, and deep into 2019. So this odd thing comes up. They have a sample from March 2019, with Covid-19 showing up in the sewage....meaning some sick folks flushed their toilets.

The date stuck with me, because I was actually in Barcelona around this time period (Mar 2019)...spending a whole week there. A lot of Chinese tourists were around, that much I can swear to.

I would go and suggest that whatever breakout occurred at the lab business, probably was around Chinese New Year in 2019 (5 Feb), and that locals people were getting infected in Feb/Mar, and some were making the trip to Barcelona (and probably other European cities like Rome and Milan).

Follow the money. Who funded this study? And did anyone involved receive any “research grants” based on the results?

And as a side question, why does this man look so happy?

Nah. Nobody would fudge with the laboratory report results, would they?

The first outbreak was in the vicinity of the Chinese government laboratory in Wuhan, China. So it is only credible to call COVID-19 virus the Chinese or Wuhan virus.

Whether the outbreak was accidental, or part of a planned release, Patient Zero was in Wuhan, China.

It still seems pretty unlikely that:

1) 111 out of 956 high risk people would be asymptomatic

2) None of these alleged asymptomatic carriers gave this highly contagious virus to anyone else.

3) 6 months elapsed between the point where it is being alleged that Covid actually entered Italy and the first official case.

We have all seen how Covid works. It doesn't work like this. These 111 people would have infected hundreds of people and the outbreak would have started within a month-not 6 months later.

This does not pass the smell test.

In Italy’s defense, we have a similar phenom here. The rag trade union used to be called the ILGWU (now UNITE HERE). I don’t know what % of the renamed ILGWU’s members are illegal aliens today, but I have to imagine it’s a substantial number. Back in 1978, when WaPo called illegal aliens for what they were:

https://www.washingtonpost.com/archive/politics/1978/09/11/2-labor-unions-openly-aiding-illegal-aliens/b5830b1b-349d-43c2-b070-84945b1dd4f2/
[Faced with a growing stream of aliens illegally crossing the border to work in the Southwest’s farms and factories, some trade unions have begun openly organizing and aiding these undocumented workers.

Officials of the International Ladies Garment Workers Union (ILGWU) and the United Farm Workers claim that leaving illegal aliens unorganized threatens the job security and pay rates of native-born American workers. The unions’ organizing drives have placed them in direct conflict with the Immigration and Naturalization Service (INS), the federal agency charged with finding, apprehending and deporting these illegal alien workers.

“We try to organize all unorganized workers. It’s not of interest to us what their status is except their status as exploited workers,” said Frederick Siems, executive vice president of the ILGWU.”This is the newest group and this is the group we must organize.”

The ILGWU drive runs counter to one of the basic thrusts of the American labor movement: preventing foreign workers from taking jobs in the nation’s farms and factories. Earlier this year the union, bolting from the official ALF-CIO position, endorsed a proposal to grant unconditional amnesty to all illegal aliens now residing in the United States. The AFL-CIO supports legislation to grant amnesty only to aliens who can prove U.S. residence dating from 1970.

The ILGWU’s increasing interest in undocumented workers stems from their increased presence in the industrial work force. According to INS spokesman BoB Seitz, more than 40 percent of them now find their work in the industrial sector of the economy.

ILGWU officials in Los Angeles say their membership has shot up since they began organizing heavily in garment plants employing large numbers of illegal aliens. Many of these plants, according to union organizer Mario Vasquez, employ as many as 80 percent Hispanic workers; sometimes a majority are illegals.]

“From our own experiences with this virus, we know none of this is possible.”

Not only is it possible, but I’ve personally seen this “highly contagious” virus in two separate households (husband and wife) where one individual catches it, is symptomatic, and the other never gets it. And in one case the husband wasn’t immune at the time (my assumption) — he got it six months later.

I question a lot of things we’ve been told about Covid.

and I have seen numerous married couples admitted at the same time for Covid. I have seen countless examples of it infecting households. We are talking about the statistical probability of 111 high risk people being asymptomatic and then not giving it to anyone else. This is some BS.
