Nor do they have freedom or a chance at a decent future. He is not concerned with either of those things.

In China it takes four hours and 18 minutes to take the bullet train from Beijing to Shanghai;
it takes 21 hours to take the train from NY to Chicago. And they’re both about the same distance.” Yeah, but how long would it take if China didnt steal US technology to build the bullet train?

You know, Chris, do you know that it takes four hours and 18 minutes to take the bullet train from Beijing to Shanghai, and it takes 21 hours to take the train from New York to Chicago. And they’re both about the same distance. Mussolini made the trains run on time, so it's all good.

Hitler and the Nazis were good with railroad and other economic efficiencies too. Tom probably would have admired them greatly if he was writing for the NYT back in the 1930s.

True. Know what else they don't have, Tom? Freedom of The Press. That means if you write something about a government entity that does not please the government, you are disappeared.
How would you like that here in The US?
Wait. What am I saying? We do have that here in The US.

The Chi-Coms do not allow dissent.
They are Fascist, and Fascism works great for government and corporate elites.
It is the ideal government model for the American Left.

Chris, do you know that it takes four hours and 18 minutes to take the bullet train from Beijing to Shanghai... Words fail me. He's actually using the Mussolini apologetic: "Sure, it's fascism, but at least he makes the trains run on time."

China has freedom of the press. It's
in their constitution.
Article 35. Citizens of the People's Republic of China enjoy freedom of speech, of the press, of assembly, of association, of procession and of demonstration.

China’s laws are full of egalitarian sounding principles, none of which are applied in practice. I have a copy of China’s Trade Union Act, that reads like a workers’ paradise. Try to organize a union in a Chinese factory and see where you end up.
