No different than low IQ athletes dominating scholastic athletics, pushing actual scholars out of the running.

I say put the dummies to work digging ditches starting after grade six. Leave recreational scholastic sports to the bright kids.

Indeed. The very concept of an "athletic scholarship is a travesty of academics in every way. So, you can play sportsball well? Who really gives a damn? Who, really, other than your parents, cares how fast you can run a hundred yards? You are a gymnast? OK cool. Nice to watch for about 2 minutes, then noone gives a damn.

How about if we have scholarships for people who excel in mathematics, chemistry, and other hard sciences? Does anyone really care about this week's particular take on Shakespeare? I mean really, I like to read I enjoy literature and philosophy as much as the next man, but unless you are actually intending to produce something of value that someone else is will to pay their own damned money for without someone holding a gun to their head, what the heck use is any of it?

I'm not a big fan of taxation in any of its various forms, but I think it is way past time that we start taxing the endowments of universities and 'not for profit' foundations. The pass we give them enables them to do great evil. Frankly, I'm sick of it all.
