How corporations surrendered to hard-left wokeness
New York Post ^ | February 13, 2021 | Charles Gasparino

Companies used to be in business to make money, sell stuff and employ people. They were run by executives who were proudly capitalist and believed in the country’s founding principles.

No longer, it seems. Big businesses’ support of green-energy legislation, various social-justice edicts and the silencing of right-wingers on Twitter have become so routine it’s almost not news anymore.

The question is, why? People who work at these companies regularly complain to me that most employees view their employers’ new corporate leftism with disdain. They believe it’s a nuisance pushed by a vocal fringe of the workforce.

Companies cave, they say, because they just don’t need the hassle of explaining to the left-wing business media why they’re not supporting AOC’s Green New Deal.

The conventional wisdom among economic conservatives I speak to is that corporate America’s wokeness can’t last forever because in the long run it’s unprofitable. Example: Ratings for the social-justice-posturing NFL were weak all year, as was this year’s Super Bowl. That means the NFL will have to go back to football.

If Nike sales decline amid the sneaker brand’s embrace of the ultimate social-justice warrior, former NFL QB Colin Kaepernick, the founder of the down-on-one-knee movement, market forces will likely prod the company in a new direction.

That’s why the NBA — another big business — just made the pre-game national anthem mandatory after one of its owners, liberal tech entrepreneur Mark Cuban, enraged many fans by pulling it from the start of Mavericks games.

The real answer is a grassroots takeover of the GOP.

Big businesses’ support of green-energy legislation, various social-justice edicts and the silencing of right-wingers...

How many businesses see these things as opportunities.

Government largess.

Appealing to the wokesters.

"People who work at these companies regularly complain to me that most employees view their employers’ new corporate leftism with disdain. They believe it’s a nuisance pushed by a vocal fringe of the workforce."

But if it's just a "vocal fringe," why does it have so much power? Calling it a "fringe" might be wishful thinking, when the reality is that we now face a culture in which leftist assumptions are thoroughly entrenched in all major centers of power.

The real answer is a grassroots takeover of the GOP.

We did that. We gave GOP the House, the Senate and the Presidency in 16 AND THE THREW IT AWAY, ON PURPOSE IMO? Where the F have you been?

The GOP is corrupt. When an operating system is corrupt you reformat the drive and re install from scratch.

We need a new MAGA party.

You’re kidding, right? Look at their ads. No more conventional couples: They depict biracial or gay couples way out of proportion to what is reality. I’m tired of seeing TV shows where there has to be a least one gay couple. I’m also tired of explaining to my grandkids why two men are kissing in a prime-time, non-cable, TV program. What a couple does in their own home is their business, but don’t push it on everyone else via TV.

“When it comes to the culture wars, the goal of a corporation is not to maximize profits, but to minimize losses.”

Nothing will change until we manage to have successful lawsuits that cause monetary losses based on corporations' failure of fiduciary responsibility, on discrimination against normal people, and failure to provide honest accounting of corporate decisions.

I can see companies wanting to save money going green. I’m not a big proponent of the global warming nonsense. But I’m always available to save a buck. LEDs are incredible. They save my electric bill and will do so for companies. Saving money is a brilliant strategy. If not for going green, LEDs never would have been invented. So sometimes change is ok. I know it’s hard but in this case it was pretty easy.

I’m sick of the relaunch of tv shows that have a black lead. If you want a black lead in a show, write a new series.

Public Relations Departments are the reason that virtually all tv-advertising now employs political correctness.

And, every indoctrination-center ( aka university ) is now required to have a “ diversity czar “.

Half the time: they’re run by far-left owners. See Facebook, Google, and most other tech firms.
Half the time: they mistake the social justice twitterati for the majority opinion, and they’re afraid of social justice lynch mobs, so they cave to “public pressure”

Corporations are no longer being forced into leftist positions. There are being directed there willfully by the people running them. For decades now companies have filled upper management positions with “young talent” who have all been educated at Yale, Harvard and other ivy league schools who teach nothing but leftists politics. These left indoctrinated hires are now in the boardrooms and are running most of Americas corporations. There is no fix.

The commercials ads are not targeted to people who live in a rural area. Most ads seem to be targeted at city folks.

Guess what? Everybody goes to university and that is where they get WOKE. The university is the hub of wheel where all the spokes radiate out to all areas of American life.
