Former President Donald Trump is considering joining a new social media platform but stated he might create his own—coming after he was suspended by Twitter, Facebook, YouTube, and other Big Tech websites last month.
In an interview with Newsmax on Wednesday night—one of his first since leaving office—the former commander-in-chief said he is weighing his options after Twitter moved against him.
“We’re negotiating with a number of people, and there’s also the other option of building your own site. Because we have more people than anybody. I mean you can literally build your own site,” Trump said, adding that he is considering building his own platform.
“I really wanted to be somewhat quiet. They wanted me very much on Parler, you know they had a phony report that the man who was in there didn’t–I mean just the opposite, they really wanted me on Parler,” Trump said, referring to statements made by Parler’s former CEO John Matze.
However, he speculated that Parler would not be able to handle the amount of traffic he would bring to the website. “Mechanically, they can’t handle” the number of users, Trump noted in the interview.
Trump added that “if you look at what’s going on with Twitter, I understand it’s become very boring and millions of people are leaving. They’re leaving it because it’s not the same, and I can understand that.” Before his account was deleted, Trump had one of the most followed Twitter accounts and generated a significant amount of engagement.
Earlier this month, Jason Miller, one of Trump’s advisers, said the former president is deciding on how to reemerge on social media.
“I would expect that we will see the president reemerge on social media,” Miller told Breitbart News on Feb. 6.

Oh that’s great. Build a new social media website. Or better yet go back in time and enforce legislation that would have prohibited existing social media websites from violating our freedom of speech.
This had bipartisan support from conservatives and liberals. If only bureaucrats had done something about Twitter, Facebook, et al when they had the chance.
The way I see it, Trump kept feeding the beast. Till it ate him.
Build it and I will come.

yep, he should just build it from scratch with its own server farm so he isn’t dependant on anyone, and no one can pull the plug.
I’m sure many other FReepers can explain this, believe it or not, there was a time when I understood the intrawebs and fancy thinkin’ boxes much better than I do today...
Couldn’t a fella just buy a whole bunch of servers, or a really large couple of them, and start their own Youtube? Obviously, if I tried to do it, it’d be a waste of money, but with the following and name recognition of Trump, seems like it’d be a no-brainer... which usually means I’m missing something.

He’ll need to start a credit card processing site too because none of the existing ones will cooperate with him, just as Parler saw them leave in a huff.

The same question that Bongino asked Matze with Parler before Matze folded like a cheap accordion.
If he waits a few months he might be able to pick up Twitter cheap.
He’s right that he probably would crash Parler or Gab. I think both of them were basically down for part of the day yesterday after news that Rush died.
If he built a static site, that’s one thing. But if he builds his own with comments sections and everything he’s going to have the same DoS problems that Gab and Parler now have during any big news events. It’s also going to become the holy grail for hackers as one of the most attacked sites in the world. He’d be better off building a site for publishing his own remarks that others can link to or discuss on other platforms. They’d be very little way for the communist Silicon Valley overlords to block it.

Not only perfect sense for a website but for a new, real conservative party as well.

Parler doesn’t work. It won’t let me set up a new account. Every time I try, and new account set up screen just sits there and does nothing.
And maybe start up his own bank, too.
Before long, he’ll have to lay his own fiber optic lines and build out his own 5G wireless infrastructure.
Look at what Don Jr. is doing on Telegram.
Perhaps Don Jr. is blazing a trail on Telegram that Dad could follow.
I joined Telegram two days ago, and like it quite a bit.
But it would be nice to see an American competitor on our side, emerge.

Since Google owns 90% of the server market, it might be hard to build something which Google allows traffic.
Two days ago, Trump met with Big Brad Parscale at Mar a Lago. I don’t think they were just discussing golf scores.
