"Flautist, not flutist" -- I thought that, too, so I looked it up: "
Flutist or Flautist – Which is Correct?. This site claims that "flutist" has been around 250 years longer than "flautist" and that the English wanted a distinctly British word so they added the "a." "Flautist" IS mainly used by the Brits. Kind of like "aluminium" (but at least the Brit version makes sense when you consider other metals like sodium, titanium, and potassium).

Flautist, not flutist. I haven't seen a picture of her. She might be a flute honey.

Flautist, not flutist.Years ago, in this country and in England, flautist or flute player was the preferred descriptor but the vulgarians have taken over.
Even James Galway says, "I am a flute player, not a flautist. I don’t have a flaut, and I’ve never flauted.”

As a former flautist, thank you for the correction. I agree 100% with her comments!

“Flautist, not flutist.”
Both are correct but I prefer the former.
