At the CPAC conference of conservative activists, quite a few stars of the GOP have come out to shine. Compared to the Democrats, conservatives have a surfeit.
One stood out yesterday, Gov. Kristi Noem of South Dakota, under whose leadership, her state came out among the best on the COVID response.
Looking like a million bucks, she spoke of freedom, constitutionality, liberty, state's rights, fiscal discipline, and cited the facts and figures of her gubernatorial record:
But perhaps the second-best part was when she compared her record to that of the Democrats' fallen Lucifer, New York's Gov Andrew Cuomo, who seeded nursing homes with COVID patients and ended up with the world's second-highest death rate, a failure all around who was praised in the press and is now going down. Citing an interview she took with ABC's George Stephanopoulos, Fox News reported:

I saw someone yesterday (or Friday) decrying her because he thought she defended Thune on his impeachment vote. That was news to me, so I went and checked and Thune didn’t vote for impeachment. He certainly seems like the slimy sort that would, but he didn’t.
That poster should get his facts right. The fact that Kristi has to work w/ Thune shouldn’t surprise anyone w/ a pulse.

We’re asking for it if she runs. Flash. Easy current job being a deep red state gov. She should switch jobs w/Thune but that won’t happen. Let her be an ornament while you guys get your jollies dreaming about her.

I happened to catch it when Noem was speaking. I was quite impressed.
She is physically attractive, but the biggest attraction for me was her understanding of her role as Governor and the fact that from Day 1 she refused to step on the citizens of her state.
She consistently understood freedom, her role as Governor, AND the politics of the virus.
On that alone, perhaps the most important issue of all, “freedom”, she earned my support. I like DeSantis too. They are 1A and 1B in any given order. DeSantis has some sharp edges and he is more aggressive towards the mediots, but Noem does not take crap from them either. She just wears a smile and calm demeanor when she waves the BS flag.
I am impressed with her not because she is pretty, but because of her actions and words. She really gets it.

It’s true, not only is it a so-called red state pretty solid, but it is a “small” state with not much population density, so probably preventing COVID problems is rather easy. I’m guessing not a lot of the pop goes traveling anywhere, either.
But, that doesn’t mean she can’t accomplish things in a tougher league.
No offense intended. I think we both like her for the same reason, but lots of folks seem to focus on her physical appearance. She is attractive. However, color me (and you) impressed with what she does and says.
