They never wanted him to be the nominee. They tolerated him as president. They cheered (some quietly) when he lost. Now they want him to go away. But he won't. Why should he?
At CPAC yesterday, Donald Trump reaffirmed what many of us already knew. This is his Republican Party. That’s not to say he has any sway with lawmakers currently on Capitol Hill or the RNC itself. But he still holds the hearts and minds of a majority of Republican voters. Conservatives and populists generally love him. The moderates and neocons who support the Republican Establishment do not.
With CPAC over and calls for unity within the GOP already fading, there are two major takeaways from the event. The first is disappointing as far too many so-called conservatives are trying to blend in with the Establishment while also trying to maintain their conservative credibility. This has and always will be a failing endeavor as “Big Tent” Republicans among The Swamp believe compromise is a one-way street. They want the Big Tent as long as it’s THEIR tent. Whether based on ignorance or pettiness, they falsely claim that a Big Tent led by conservative and populist principles cannot work.
The second takeaway is that as long as Donald Trump chooses to stay in politics, he wields tremendous power over the true GOP base. That base does not include Establishment leadership or Swamp-loving megadonors. It’s just us, the people, the heart and soul of the conservative movement. We believe in an America First vision that embraces personal liberties and limited government. And while President Trump wasn’t always able to reduce the size of government, he strongly defended our freedoms and managed the nation with the most America-First mentality we’ve seen from a president in at least a century.

We will take care of the establishment Republicans.
We will prescribe the new Trump suppositories made from the gleanings from nancy Pelosi’s office floor combined with wax from the South Church in Boston.
And they will remain the minority party. What republican conservative voter would vote for these turncoats moving forward

No Trump voter is going to vote for a RINO ever again after the 2020 betrayal.
Up until now, a lot of RINOs were entrenched because there was never a strong effort to run a conservative candidate against them in the primary.
Not any more. Trump is going to be recruiting and campaigning for true patriots to take on these betrayers at every level from state legislatures up through Congress.
The Dems might have been behind the cheat-by-mail-in ballots, but RINO-controlled state legislatures allowed the 2020 steal to happen.
RINOs have no idea how much Trump voters hate them. They are going to find out in 2022. With the GOP controlled by the voters (i.e. true consesrvatives) it can go back to winning elections fairly and moving forward with the MAGA agenda.
From now until 2023, the Republican Establishment will try to reduce Trump’s sway

They did a lot more than just ‘cheer’ for him losing.
“Some will be assigned to attack him and his leadership, as we’re seeing from people like Liz Cheney and Mitt Romney.”
I very much doubt that Cheney and Romney need to be told to attack Trump, any more than Charles Manson needed to be told to kill people.
How will the GOPe types vote? Will they vote Democrat, Trump, or not at all? (Assuming Trump is atop of the ticket)
