The Cuomo administration has hired a high-profile defense attorney who has counted Woody Allen and Harvey Weinstein among his clients to represent the Executive Chamber as federal investigators probe the state’s handling of nursing homes during the pandemic.

Lawyer Elkan Abramowitz confirmed to the Daily News he and his firm are representing Gov. Cuomo and his top officials in relation to the the nursing home inquiry, but have “not been retained on the sexual harassment matter.”

Abramowitz, a former federal prosecutor, already has a history with the governor as he served as Cuomo’s legal counsel when former U.S. Attorney Preet Bharara opened an inquiry into the dissolution of the defunct Moreland Commission.

He has also represented a rogue’s gallery of clients including Allen disgraced movie mogul Weinstein.

In 2015, Abramowitz came under fire for helping Weinstein avoid charges for admittedly groping a model after it came to light that he had donated thousands to Manhattan District Attorney Cyrus Vance Jr.’s campaign war chest.Abramowitz, a former federal prosecutor, already has a history with the governor as he served as Cuomo’s legal counsel when former U.S. Attorney Preet Bharara opened an inquiry into the dissolution of the defunct Moreland Commission.

Interesting that he had enough sense to remove his own mother from such a facility.

Does that suggest pre-meditation?

It is said that Cuomo has no friends. Apparent his political advisors don't like him either.

You'd think someone would have told him that the optics of hiring Weinstein's or Woody Allen's attorney right now wouldn't be a good idea.

Wondering whether Cuomo gets to use the attorney hired to represent the Executive Chamber to address the 3rd accuser, who cites behavior occurring at a wedding. Is there any point where Cuomo has to expend money from his own pocket for legal fees, rather than force the taxpayers to pay for his indiscretions?

Only if he resigns, which is why he won't unless there is massive pressure and a deal from the Dems not to prosecute.

The Pope doesn’t approve of heterosexuality. It’s unnatural for men to like women, says the Pontifical Pervert.;-)

This is where the attention needs to be kept, on the nursing homes murders. That sexual harassment uproar is a nice diversionary tactic but it had it’s intended effect, the lab rats in the media all scurried there.

If Cuomo were really friendless they’d be going after him on corruption charges.

Cuomo didn’t just send sick patients back.

He allowed confirmed positive staff to continue to report to work until he abruptly rescinded the policy in mid-May.
