The idea of PA legislative cronyism sadly goes on. They take care of their own. In this case Republican Sen Mike Regan's wife Frances. Then Democrat Frank Dermody got his turn after losing reelection in 2020 after 30 years in office
Both were appointed by legislative leaders to Pennsylvania’s Gaming Control Board, whose responsibilities include meeting once or twice a month — three times in busier months — have among the highest-paid positions in state government, with annual salaries topping $145,000.
It’s one of the best jobs in town — if you can get it. That is because ex-state legislators are frequently on the shortlist when there’s an opening. Last week, Frank Dermody, the top House Democrat who lost reelection in 2020 after 30 years in the legislature, was appointed to a two-year term on the seven-member board.
To add my opinion is to say that such a public service job should be voluntary to only highly qualified individuals. No pension added. Use the money for salary to fund help to “gamblers anonymous” etc.
I like both of these individuals but we need examples of conservatives like Jake Corman and Mike Regan setting an example of making conservatism as pure as driven snow instead of being part of the ongoing boondoggle.
Sorry links may have been malformed.
Guess who the original owners of most of the gaming licenses were. PA Judges, legislators and builders. no one else got to get any of the pie. I think they were supposed to be open subscriptions.
I agree. If you take note I believe the same is happening with marijuana licenses. Crony governments are always corrupt governments.
state subsidized high end hooker employment
Billions in revenue....but it is not enough for the pigs feeding at the public trough.
