Hasn’t anyone ever heard of a police state?
Only in the fevered minds of leftists could a middling sized city qualify for statehood.
Any government that believes it needs military and barbed wire surrounding its seat of power is a military police state and no longer a democratic republic.
But if DC would vote 90% Dem that qualifies to Dems as a state, just as illegal invaders who would vote Dem qualify as eligible voters. The Dems all need charged with treason and sedition.

The Constitution orders the Federal District to be OUTSIDE of any state so that it will not be in effect governed by a state. This is easy to understand, even for a public that believes oprah and dr oz are the most reliable sources of truth.
Turning the Federal District into a state makes it subject to the government of a state. The United States is a federation of multiple states, as the name shows, making it easy to comprehend even for the Twitter generation.

Riots didn’t “sweep the nation’s capital.” There was an incursion into the capital building, but the capital is the entire federal district. The capital building is merely where Congress does business (piss-poorly does business, by the way).
We need term limits on all federal incumbents in order to get things back to normal.
Absolutely do we need term limits, and that includes local elections also, imho.

No different than the Berlin Wall except in Pelosi’s version the machine guns will be pointing out.
The Capitol Police are 2,300 officers and civilians. They are responsible for 270 acres which is 85.18 officers per acre and they have a $460,000,000.00 budget.
Moreover, my guess is that the force is riven with persons not on the force by INDIVIDUAL MERIT or RESUME but by their various physical handicaps, their gender, their sex, race, their sexual dysphoria, their homosexuality, their nationality, are they trannies and on and on.
If I was worried about the building I worked in being attacked by pissed off Trumpsters, I would want the National Guard outside my window too.
The land that DC was created from belonged to Virginia and Maryland. The Virginia portion (Arlington and Alexandria) were ceded to the Federal Government in 1789 and became part of the District of Columbia. The county was returned to Virginia in 1846.
If they want to maintain a federal area with a smaller footprint, fine, but the remaining land should not be carved out from it’s original state, Maryland, and declared a new state. I believe it should be returned to Maryland as precedent would require.

It would be very interesting to see a comparison of the pay of a capitol policeman with the pay of a security person working in a high end museum. Most of the time the job of a castle Capitol policeman seems very similar.
