Sen. Rand Paul advised people to “live free” and “trash your mask” after receiving the coronavirus vaccine in response to more cautious guidance by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.
“Rather than listening to government scolds, look to the science of immunology: and once you’re 2 weeks out from the vaccine, or have recovered from the actual infection, trash your mask and live free again,” Paul said on Twitter.
Paul was responding to a CNN article detailing updated CDC guidance, which now advises that people who have been fully vaccinated can gather with other fully vaccinated individuals but continued to urge caution, including the use of masks in public.
"COVID-19 continues to exert a tremendous toll on our nation. Like you, I want to be able to return to everyday activities and engage with our friends, families, and communities," CDC Director Dr. Rochelle Walensky said of the updated guidance. "Science and the protection of public health must guide us as we begin to resume these activities. Today's action represents an important first step. It is not our final destination."

That did make me laugh!
I have never been a huge fan of Rand Paul one way or another, but it seems lately he is one of the very few who stands up to be counted.
I may have to rethink him.

I was never a fan of Rand Paul until one day I realized that I agree with him more than I’ve ever agreed with any political figure in the U.S. government — and that probably includes Donald Trump, by the way.
Now put your seats in the upright position and hang on.
That said, he is more genuinely honest about his feelings and beliefs and observations than most of the DC swamp.
And, as a scientist (a real one), I agree w Rand on this one.
