The city of Chicago endured a violent weekend between the evening of March 12th and the early morning hours of March 15th – with 39 people having been shot across the city, 4 of which died from their sustained injuries.

One shooting incident in particular resulted in 15 people being shot, and 2 dying.

One of the most detrimental shooting incidents within Chicago over the weekend occurred at approximately 4:40 a.m. on March 14th within the 6700 block of South South Chicago Avenue.

Police say that some sort physical altercation took place at a party, which then escalated into gunfire. Officials say that 15 people were shot during the incident, with the victims’ ages ranging from 20 to 44 years old.

Two victims were pronounced deceased at the scene, with investigators reportedly finding four guns at the scene as well. The deceased victims were later identified as 30-year-old Rayneesha Dotson and 29-year-old Lionel Darling.

As for the 13 other victims impacted from the incident, one reportedly suffered a graze wound and refused treatment, while the other 12 were transported to nearby hospitals with listed conditions ranging from good to critical.

Investigators are currently working on “several different” leads related to the case, but no arrests have been publicly announced as of this writing.

Hours prior to the mass shooting incident, a 54-year-old man was fatally shot in an Avalon Park apartment within the 7900 block of South Kimbark Avenue at approximately 1:05 a.m. on March 14th.

The victim, later identified as Gino Collins, was pronounced deceased at the scene and investigators were said to have recovered a firearm from the scene as well.

In a shooting that occurred during the evening of March 13th, a 47-year-old woman and 51-year-old man were shot – with the female victim, later identified as Susana Rodriguez, having been shot fatally.

Police say that the double shooting occurred at approximately 9:35 p.m. that evening while the victims were sitting on the front porch of a home located within the 4100 block of West Potomac Avenue.

Investigators say that two male assailants walked up to the victims as they were sitting on the porch and opened fire. The surviving male victim was said to have suffered a gunshot wound to the leg and is in fair condition.

As for the some of the other non-fatal shooting across the city over the weekend, a 32-year-old woman who had been the passenger inside of a vehicle involved in an alleged DUI crash had been reportedly shot three times.

The crash had occurred at roughly 2:30 a.m. on March 15th, but it’s currently unclear as to how the passenger inside of the black Dodge sedan had sustained the gunshot wounds in relation to the alleged DUI incident.

On the afternoon of March 14th, a 13-year-old boy was among four people wounded in a shooting that took place within the 2600 block of East 77th Street.

The incident in question transpired at approximately 2:42 p.m. that day, with the 13-year-old boy having suffered a gunshot wound to his knee. The three other victims were listed as a 20-year-old, a 36-year-old male, and a 26-year-old woman.

All of the victims involved in said shooting were listed as being in good condition.

Roughly six hours prior to that shooting, a 27-year-old man was seriously wounded in a shooting that occurred as the victim was inside of his vehicle in a garage in the 8100 block of South Green Street.

In other news related to Chicago, a police officer was non-fatally shot while outside of the 6th District police station on March 14th.

Here are the details on that recently report.

_

CHICAGO, IL – A Chicago Police officer was reportedly non-fatally shot during the afternoon of March 14th, not far from the 6th District police station in the Gresham neighborhood.

As of this writing, police don’t have any suspects in custody, nor has the identity of the injured officer been released.

The incident occurred at approximately 2:30 p.m. on March 14th, while a Chicago Police sergeant was in the parking lot across the street from the 6th District station located on 7808 S. Halsted Street.

Chicago Police Superintendent David Brown described the sustained injury as a “superficial graze wound”. Superintendent Brown said that the graze wound wound up striking the police sergeant’s chin:

“One of our sergeants heard a gunshot, and then felt pain in his chin area on his face.”

Following the shooting, the police sergeant was transported to Advocate Christ Medical Center, where the police sergeant was released from the hospital later that evening on March 14th.

Detectives are reportedly reviewing available security camera footage from the Gresham police district – as well as other available video evidence captured nearby.

Currently, police officials have not made any arrests in this case, nor has there been any mention of possible suspects or persons of interest as of this writing.

Following the shooting incident, Superintendent Brown relayed the following on Twitter, noting that that the police sergeant marks the thirteenth officer shot this year in Chicago:

“I’m visiting with the sergeant at the hospital, who is recovering in good spirits. Our officers display an enormous level of resiliency and put themselves in harm’s way each and every day, whether it’s responding to a call or simply standing in their own parking lot.”

“The sergeant marks the 13th officer shot or shot at so far this year. 79 CPD officers who were shot/shot at in all of 2020. God bless the men and women of the Chicago Police Department and all officers throughout our country who risk their lives for our safety each and every day.”

This is an ongoing investigation.

“4 removed from Social Security rolls; 35 added to permanent disability payments”

You would not believe the hospital bills involved here, and, no, the vast majority of the victims don’t have ObamaCare, not even the Bronze Plan.
