Dallas Fed: Biden regulations impact New Mexico worse than Texas in Permian Basin

Anticipated federal policy changes to oil and gas leasing and permitting on federal lands “could shift oil production, prompting a realignment of Permian Basin activity between Texas and New Mexico,” a new report by the Dallas Fed says.

The Permian Basin is the world’s largest shale oil and gas field, located in the Dallas Fed’s Eleventh District service area, straddling the Texas-New Mexican borders.

On the New Mexico side, half of the oil and gas produced in the Permian Basin occurs on federal land. On average, even during the state’s shutdown in 2020, the state produced 1 million barrels of oil per day. On the Texas side, roughly 3 million barrels of oil were produced daily, but on private and state-owned land.

Most fools come to suffer. The idiots in New Mexico evoke only scorn not sympathy. People like them are ruining the country.

Want to talk about federal land? Check NV and the mess we have. No doubt in the current legislative session the Assembly super majority democommies and the Senate which is on seat shy of a democommie super majority ain’t workin’ to help the conservative folks. In fact commoners aren’t allowed in the buildings to make their presence and displeasure known. Not that the democommies don’t know. They don’t care.

“New Mexico voted for Biden...now they are being bent over and getting it good and hard.”

Yup, and they never even got a kiss before getting it.

The Dem constituency has got to be made up of the worlds stupidest, blind, moronic short sited assh*les ever put on this earth.

May their pain be great and ongoing.

Enjoy it New Mexico. You voted for this.

And to the inevitable statement that oil patch workers didn’t vote for this......granted.....but how many government workers in New Mexico did when their state is dependent on oil revenues to sustain its economy? How many teachers? How many in the “arts community”? Etc etc. there are a lot of people in New Mexico who DID vote for Biden. The only way they’re going to learn is to have their faces rubbed into the consequences.

An excellent article that explains, in detail, the economic impact of Biden's executive orders WRT oil & gas leases on Federal land.

The full impact won't be felt for 1 to 2 years, depending on what the current lease holders in New Mexico do.

Bottom line: Oil & Gas Industry in Texas will boom and Oil & Gas Industry in New Mexico will decline (along with tax revenue to the state).

Thanks for posting!

The voters of Albuquerque and Santa Fe, along with the Indians in the western parts of the state, are the ones who carried New Mexico for the Democrats. Eastern New Mexico, especially Lea County, where most of the state's oil and natural gas is produced, is Republican, with Trump carrying the county by a 4:1 margin. Similar margins were recorded in other eastern New Mexico counties. All of these counties have Hispanic populations of at least 40%.

Like eastern Oregon or western Virginia, eastern New Mexico would be better off joining a more conservative neighboring state.

Anecdotally I’ve been told it’s caused a large drop in drilling in Colorado as well. Part of that was due to covid, at least that’s what officials say. Good luck with a rebound. No matter, they can learn to code.

As a native born Texan (God Bless Texas) I would be willing to consider annexation of eastern New Mexico. But, my preference would be to keep eastern Oregon or western Virginia, eastern New Mexico, Northern California as hole cards in the event that a Democrat congress and administration should attempt to vote in Washington DC and Puerto Rico as states.
